Cool amps, I could never adjust to the dry gain sound for leads, but I absolutely loved the 120 I had for metal rhythm playing. Tight and low noise floor like most have said, I always boosted it up front.
Wish I still had mine
Thrasher will get you there man, in my honest opinion I feel like the thrasher is better suited for rhythms like that moreso than anything else. With a boost it does leads fine, but on it's own it is just a chunky tight badass rhythm machine.
Mine is the only used one for sale on reverb right now, I love the amp but I've been gassing for a jp-2c and I'm selling off several pieces of gear to get there, if you are interested take a look https://reverb.com/item/16526596-randal ... er-50-watt
The thrasher has more heft and power to it than anything, it reminds me a lot of the deliverance 120 I use to have, only not quite THAT dry. Still super tight, GREAT low end power and takes boosts very well
Sure, bear in mind this is just my opinion, the satan 50 was not a bad amp at all, just not what I expected or wanted
The satan has a ton of gain on tap, way more saturation and cut, it's a very bright amp. But as soon as I got it up to band volumes it just thinned out no matter how I set the...
Yeah I should have requested a refund right away, but I’ve been so busy with life stuff I just kept putting it off like a dumbass. Hopefully the tube is the only issue, I’m going to buy a better matched set and hope for the best
that is what I thought, I pulled the tubes and took them to a local shop, they ran them all individually on a tube tester and only one of the power tubes came back as slightly worn. I suppose they could be wrong and I could get a second opinion
Also, the seller keeps saying that he brought it brand new, never even really played it and then sold it to me. Unless randall just sold it new missing a screw and all other screws and the chassis itself loose, I'm calling bullshit
So, I bought one of these used on Reverb for a decent price, I was pretty curious about the Thrasher after having owned the 50 watt Satan (wasn't really into the Satan)
The Thrasher (bought back in september) was listed as in mint condition and yadda yadda, when it arrived I first noticed that...
Maybe check out a Peavy Windsor, Or lower wattage/used Marshall DSLs, both good amps and good pedal platforms
Edit: just saw the max of 50 Watts, so scratch out the Windsor (unless they have lower wattage versions?)
