If anything the Ultra will be discontinued. Nobody is going to pay $1999 new when they can get double the power for $200 more. And given the higher proportion of Ultra to Standard sales, my guess is that Cliff will devote the majority of his resources to the II.
Now, it was mentioned last...
I think this is mostly a product of the FX loop used. In the limited time I had a Standard (yes, I returned it during the 15 day trial period once I heard the II was coming out), I didn't have any worrying noise issues running 4CM with my Guytron. Yeah, there was some hiss, but no more than I...
If you're ready to buy, keep checking the online store around 12-2pm Eastern. That's usually when it's restocked. Have your CC out, though, because they don't last long...
Hell, more processing power than a Standard is mind blowing in itself. The only thing more powerful is an Ultra   Just from playing around with Axe-Edit, I was able to make most patches I would use without coming close to maxing out the CPU (yes, I know it's only an artificial...
That's my guess, too. Releasing an even more powerful unit when you're at the height of demand for the Standard and Ultra wouldn't be a very good business move, IMHO. On the other hand, bringing out something that can compete with the Eleven Rack price-wise would be a killer business move...
This is pure conjecture based on a post from a Euro customer who's on the G66 waiting list. They called G66 for an update and G66 said they hadn't taken any stock for three months because of something new on the horizon. Now, this has NOT been verified by Fractal, so I would take it with a...
Yeah, I'm a bit of a dick; I had two shopping carts open in two different browsers just because the stupid Yahoo store was pooping out in Chrome. :D I've been clicking that stupid Add to Cart button like a fiend the past three days...
I think I sniped the only one to get posted to the online store today. I'm stoked even though there are rumors of new hardware being released soon (check out the Fractal forum Countdown thread for all the crazy speculation).
     :D
On a side note...
GT100 (non-FV) owner here.
Graydon Stucky of GDS fame does indeed own Guytron now, and he's doing a fantastic job with the company. He's also a great guy to deal with; I sent him my GT100 last year for an overhaul since it's over fourteen years old, and he barely charged me over $100 for the...
I agree with you on the high-gain note. Though while the 1.20 firmware update really bollocksed up the Uberschall model, the Fireball model absolutely RIPs now. I have a live patch with the Recto and Fireball preamps and it's pretty close to that Mark Day level of ultra-gain.
Well, considering how much wah I used on that clip, I would expect some honk. The chirp, on the other hand, might be from the V-Pick I'm using. It causes a sort of chirp depending on your attack which folks either like or hate (I happen to like it).
As far as the HD is concerned, I haven't...
Here is the patch if anyone is interested:

Keep in mind that the cab sims are OFF and you'll need to either turn them on, or use a 3rd party impulse with a convolution plugin.
With Ed's last backing track (also posted in the January jam thread, but I figured a separate thread highlighting the HD500 might interest some folks). The playing is shaky since I just had a ganglion cyst in my strumming wrist drained a couple weeks ago, and it's been a while since I had a...
Here's my take on the January craziness:

I'm a bit out of practice since I haven't played with a band in a while :(
