I'd like a different flavor of distortion for the Guytron just to mix things up a bit. The pedal should be capable of chunky metal tones going through my clean channel. Quality is king here; I don't mind paying more if the sound is worth it. This is mainly to keep me from dropping massive...
This is essentially what a Guytron GT100 is. 18watt EL84 section slaved to a 100watt EL34 output.
The best part is that the FX loops are placed after the 18watt section, so direct recording is a breeze :)
What I did was use the Reaper JS timedelay plugin to shift the e609 track back 3ms + 10 samples. Really, I just used my ears till I heard the phasing go away. It's a lot easier for me than dragging and dropping to get the peaks to match.
MD 421 is definitely next on my list. Gotta get a new...
How do you like the 421? That's also on my list of mics to try (along with some of the more affordable ribbon mics). I just don't have the coin to throw at it since I'm saving for a decent 8-preamp interface...
I think I got it figured out, but I actually used one of the built in Reaper plugins to timeshift it. I maybe got carried away with the doubletracking here...

I did 3ms +10 samples delay on the e609 track, then duplicated both tracks...
Here is a mono clip:

My ears hear some phasing, but I don't think it's out of control. Then again, other ears might disagree :)
Since the SM57 is absolute death with my GT100 and BuzzBomb, I figured I'd give the e609 a try. Apparently, Guytron uses the e906 (which is very similar to the e609 except with three EQ positions) mic element on their GT20 combos and swears by them.
Here's a pic of how I set this up for the...
Every Uber I've played has had a huge variety of tones in it, and sounded great for rock and grunge... I mean, the presence control alone drastically alters the character of the amp.
Coheed and Cambria use Uberschalls and they're pretty far from metal.
+1
This is all I need for tuning stability on my Dual Fulcrum G&L Legacy. The only problem you may have is the low E going sharp after a dive, but you can fix this with proper string stretching and by finishing the tuning of the E by going sharp-to-flat instead of flat-to-sharp.
Will there be a model with a floating trem? That's the only thing here I'm not seeing that would make me a very happy panda... I was always curious about the folks who'd add the Variax electronics to high-end guitars. And what are the bridge and neck hums?
This actually happens to my middle finger after I attend a particularly aggressive drum circle. But only in my right hand (which is usually the more active hand... it's my hi-hat hand, really, and it's easier to keep a beat for some reason compared to my left).
In my case, however, I think...
