I really like the EVH but I need more lower/mid gain inbetween type tones and rock kinda gain than I need ch3. It's great for some leads but it's also a bit scooped and modern.
The JVM is basically the same thing at a slightly different speed though isn't it? Excels at similar things to the EVH...
Still tempted by a JVM despite playing them and occasionally finding them great and occasionally a bit meh and thin. Thinking it could have been the cab last time I used one though.
JVM is a better choice for the clean/crunch type thing, right? Has anybody else experienced them sounding thin...
Yes!
The guy I got it from had the new-ish YJM Fury pickups in it which I cannot recommend in the slightest. Absolute dogshit. Had some Texas Specials (which I do really like, say what you will...) and a Duncan '59 laying around so I put them in. What a great guitar! I may eventually switch to...
Absolutely do. I'm not in any way refuting your opinion dude, in fact, I'm very thankful that you've taken the time as I honestly had a only a very basic knowledge of speakers as I've always bought pre-loaded cabs.
I don't *think*, based on what I've read from all sides, that I'm going to...
I'm gonna just stick with it and see. Howard Kaplan, who designed the amp, seems to think they'll be alright as long as I'm not pumping insane - maxed out - volume through them continuously.
Tone controls above 1:00 yes. Gain is above 1:00 on the blue from time to time. Master volume never goes above 5-6 and rarely above 4. That kinda stage volume is generally inhospitable!
I've been using the Blue as pretty much just a 'crunch' since I got it, gain on about 3, to keep the cleans cleaner too. Think I'll use it as my main high gain and lead sound over the next few weeks and see how I get on. I've put a volume pedal on the M13 with the level docked a bit infront of...
Having owned three Suhrs I'd probably go for the Luxxtone. Just has the vibe I"m after, especially the HSS Strat!
Just curious, the vid with Phil X playing the Luxxtone in the Friedman vid... is that trem set floating or decked with 5 springs?
