I've pretty much given up on NOS. It seems so many times you're not getting NOS you're either getting UOS (used old stock) or just failed/bad tubes. Nevermind actually being matched. My last attempt was getting square getter Chinese preamp tubes from this very site. First I only got 2 out of 3...

Alnico have a different tone from ceramic. They usually aren’t that good for distortion. Often a fizzy top with heavy distortion. But they can be great for anything clean up to edge of breakup. A Celestion Gold is quite different from a Greenback. Neither has a very tight bottom but the mids...

I just got a WGS G12C/S in this 2x12 paired with an EV 12L. The G12C/S is totally different than the G12C, the /S is smooth cone vs ribbed. Was going back n forth between the Bassman and Hiwatt DR103 clone, loud and clean with pedals so I can hear how it handles clean and distortion.

I just got a GLO a couple weeks ago but haven't tried it with a Marshall yet. I'll try that later today. Usually for me it's an EQ and I really like the old big box Boss GE10. Except that it's so damn big and doesn't have an LED.

That was the only guitar those two specific pickups worked for me. I ended up selling it to @LP Freak and if I recall he immediately put Aldriches in it and punted the Duncan’s. Just goes to show there are so many variables.

Another thing @VonBonfire ; when I got new pickups for a Gibson Explorer I asked Greg at Jalen pickups to make me a custom set. FuckinA did he deliver. Maybe hit him up. He’s easy to work with and reasonably priced.

I bought a Chubtone with 59n and hate, hate, hated it. I ended up with a Sentient which just may be the perfect compromise between the 59n and Jazz. But I’ve never tried a PG neck. I need to at some point.
