Why not just use the nova? It does everything you said you wanted it to do (and it will switch your amp channels too) and the nova is the best sounding of all of them....
As long as you only want fx in the loop, get the nova. It's designed for unity gain use and it really doesn't negatively affect your amp sound standing all. The fx overall are pretty good. If it's just for reverb, delay, chorus, pitch, you'll be happy with the nova and it's easy to use too.

I really wish one of these companies would make a 50 watt short head with this footprint that had 2 channels- a real clean and a real gain. The closest thing is the EVH 50 watt, but the 2nd channel is useless IF you want a real clean and channel 3 has entirely too much gain……...
when you're practicing it's good to not even plug in. Then you really have a sense of the control you have on the instrument.
