Good luck finding a Traditional with a 60's neck and under 9lbs. Maybe I'm wrong, but your options there are the "gimmicky" Traditional Pro or a used Traditional 1960 (which has the rather suspect "baked maple" fretboard. If you want close to a 60's neck....I would drop the extra dough and get...
I plugged into a different cab and did some tweaking on the amp EQ. I got the Tone Zone sounding really good now. I just can't switch guitars on the fly. I'm gonna give it some more time before I decide to roll pups.
FedEx dropped off this new Ibanez hardtail Prestige this morning. This is my first ever "shredder" style guitar other than a couple of Charvel San Dimas' that I no longer have. I am blown away at the craftmanship, playability, and tuning stability. The Super Wizard neck is insanely fast and...
I have the old yellow version........awesome with my strat, but too flubby with humbuckers. How is the new one any different other than the LED and true bypass? I also had a yellow one in the mid 80's that killed in front of my super lead. I'm curious about this new one.
I'll chime in here because it's embarrassing how many pups I have rolled through my alder/rosewood American Standard. I kept the 250k volume but added a 500k tone with a PIO cap. Here is the list off the top of my head:
BKP Rebel Yell
BKP Nailbomb
Duncan JB
Duncan Custom RTM Demartini
Dimarzio...
You will be blown away. My Perplex'd is the best sounding amp I've ever played. I also had a very early version of the Grinder and still regret selling it. Glen flies under the radar and it amazes me that he doesn't get much recognition in the boutique world.
ZZ Top - Fandango
Mercyful Fate - Melissa
Trouble - Psalm 9
Judas Priest - everything up to Screaming For Vengeance
Black Sabbath - Vol 4
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Second Helping
Riot - Fire Down Under
Accept - Restless and Wild
I usually add an H/S pickguard and do a single volume control in the bridge tone hole......further away from bridge. No tone pot.
Getting rid of the middle pup reduces string pull and adds a bit of sustain IMO. My American Standard is set up this way with a Duncan DeMartini custom in the...
Currently in my LP Standard. Also had it in an Explorer in the past. The only downside is about a 6 week wait for the wind. For hot ceramics you might want to check out the Hellabucker.
I don't get it myself. I keep falling to the hype......I've owned 7 different BKP's. I always go back to Duncan's and Dimarzios. Not because they are cheaper, but because I think they sound better. If you want a better pickup at a good price, then check out BG Pickups. The BG Bucker Dark is my...
Couple of things related to this thread. When I had my 6505 and more recently the EVH 50w, the Greenback Reissues were my fave......even over the EVH/Heritage and Creamback 65's. Secondly, the Eminence V12 properly broken in might be my favorite speaker ever
I've had both side by side. First off, the Heritage 75 is 30 watts. Creamback is 75 watts.
Heritage is brighter, but actually smoother on the top. The Creamback has some grit in the highs. The Heritage has a leaner low end that makes it tighter. In comparison, the Creamback has a really big...
