I recently got a Maxon 7 band eq for front of amp lead boosts. I like it a lot. Low noise the way I have it set and the buffer is plenty transparent.

I picked up a digitech hardwire chorus recently and I've been impressed. No tone suck. Love it on the Jazz setting.

Be aware that on a neck through body guitar the predominant tone will be the neck wood. I have a mahogony body guitar but I like maple fretboards so I got an all maple neck and it is neck through. It is a bright snappy machine.
