I believe the arm is internally threaded, so grinding it down might lessen its functionality. Silly question: Are you tightening the arm all the way down? This should lower it a bit. Good luck! tyler

Sorry to hijack the thread, but are the symptoms of leaking dielectric always as the OP described? I have been noticing a deterioration in my amp's tone and it becoming noisy. Is it time for me to replace my caps? Sorry that the pictures aren't so good!
