My Ibanez Iron label 8 string is actually pretty close to your broad description Basic suoerstrat slab shape with a multi laminate neck that is substantial to say the least. I picked up mine as a Scratch n dent, but it was perfect except a bit of rubbing residue that hadn't been cleaned.
I...
That's very impressive, but I just need to ask Why?. I understand learning the parts as an educational aspect, but to go that far and literally rerecord the album. I love Rush though.
For all that effort he could have worked to produce something unique. I hope this is a one time excursion and...
Bad Religion .......hopefully this summer/fall
Everyone else is on hiatus for 2018.
Nightwish....compilation just released though.
Blind Guardian
Arch/Matheos .......like that'll ever happen
Yngwie...... Where he doesn't sing?
I'm in far more of a nostalgia zone, discovering underground bands...
Many of the Focuses are just as good as the Pacers ..except for the pickups. If you like Ibanez wizard necks then getting one with a OFR is an excellent choice for a suoerstrat style. Fully comparable to Charvels if you like the neck profiles and the more rounded body style...
Only later did...
I've got several bookcases of every guitar mag known to man.83 to 91...when I had a non musician life....and then 96 onward.
I am serious pacrat for books and magazines.guitar, computer art, aviation and auto racing. My wife only complains about the space they take up because her 4-5 bookcases...
I keep vacillating about putting mine up for sale. I've got a axefx and mp1 and jmp1 pre amps...so I don't use it anymore. But I am just horrible about selling gear. I normally procrastinate until it's worth nothing...then Im forced to keep it out of monitary loyalty to my ego.?
I've been a huge Priest sound since 1980, but lost interest after Painkiller. Although I did like Halfords Fight and Two projects.
But this is just continuing to be a parody of themselves. Lyrics ranging from mediocre to silly like the Nostradamus album. Redeemer was a bit better, but It just...
I've got a couple EMG guitars a Jackson RR1 pro with a 81/60 set and a Esp with the Zack Wylde 81/85 set.
The Esp 81/85 work real well in that guitar, but I think its because its a 9.5lb all mahogany neck through.
But the 60 in the Rhoads neck is one of my favorite smooth yet bity lead tones...
I'm gonna weigh in on the" what would of happened with Randy" line of thought.
Randy is one of my all time favorites, so anything I say is not a slight on my respect for him.
1.Randy was a great guitarist and was becoming more unique as he matured away from LA.
2. Randy was not a good...
I really want to like Seventh Son, but the seventh chorus of a seventh chorus just annoys me too much.
So my order.
Power slave
Piece of mind
Number of the beast
Iron Maiden
Killers.
Matter of life or death (primarily for The Legacy)
Everything else is a toss up.
Dremel router base is a bit small and can be a chore to Lee straight around a large hole, such as a pickup.
Cheapest option is taking to a pro, or you could use a simple chisel.
A chisel is cheap and works very well to remove the bottom of a pickup route.
Why would mahogany be such a trial to reshape than maple? I've worked with both and unless there is a difference in the truss rod tunnel cut there is enough wood totaje a couple mm off. Obviously you can't make a wizard profile, but thinish is doable.
Iso cabs are a trade off no matter what you do. I've had a couple Randell and Jet City, and I've built a couple customs also.
They work OK for live sound, but you lose a lot of tone for recording. Plus they arnt as quite as you think they are going to be. My custom ones were iso box floated on...
Napalm, I love including Andy leRoque. One of my main influences since Fatal Portrait.
Along the same thread. Underrated:
Michael Denner (Mercyful Fate)
Hank Sherman
Chris Degarmo (queensryche)
Michael Wilton
Joey Tafola
Jim Matheos (Fates Warning)
Victor Arduini
William J Tsamis (Warlord)
I...
My first was also a Peavey, but I don't remember the model. New in '83, 50 watt solid state 1x12 that I replaced with a Celestian G12. I hated that amp so badly, but I ended up running a DoD American Metal pedal as NY distortion into it.
I eventually traded it in for an ADA MP1....that I still...
There are a few interesting bids on YouTube by Brian Wampler concerning Tubescreamers. I thought the multi pedal comparison helpful.

Ive be been using win 7 to run protools 10 for quite awhile. i7 processor with 64gig memory. High ram because its also used for graphics 2d-3d....
I personally dont like newer versions of windows. Mainly because I don't like Mac style interfaces, too much hand holding for my taste. I do have...
Thanks for all the info. I hadn't run across the jack mod or the effects loop change. Hell, I had forgotten that the effects loop was parallel. That explains why trying to use the F50 as an emergency Poweramp running a preamp into the fx loop was not particularly successful. It worked but wasnt...
Since the 900 is a usage requirement focusing on using only the power amp and replacing the pre.
The Peavey has been suggested, but Mesa tones are more what your looking for. So Mesa pres might be a good choice, either Triaxis or Studio pre's. If you could find a Mesa Studio .22to use as a pre...
I'm a huge 'Ryche fan and I've found the core tone relatively consistent from Ep to Promised Land. The changes are more studio mix than in the bands live sound. Although there is a change in the bass sounds that start changing at Mindcrime with the addition of the defined Spector bass sound...
