I always used R2 on my Mark IVs as either an extra clean channel with more grit/breakup, or as a fat crunch channel by running an overdrive out front.
I always wished that I could get R2 to act as a warmer clone of the lead channel, but as much as I studied the entire channel, there isn’t a...
I looked around for quite a while to find a Rotovibe, and I absolutely love it. It's a fun pedal that allow you to select the "oscillation", so you can add some "randomness" to riffs. It's not as overpowering or vertigo-inducing as a lot of stopboxes, but it allows you to control the "movement"...
To be direct, no, there wasn't a tonal change between a Revision C with a Black face, and a Revision C with a Chrome face. They were both made using the same components, but the Black face Rectos are much more prevalent the earlier revisions, and they typically shipped with an aqua-colored pilot...
I agree. The Rectos were really tight all the way up to Rev. E, where they became a little darker sounding. Among other things, the Rev. Cs and Rev. Ds used the same OTs that were being loaded into the Mark IIIs...until Mesa ran out of them.
Hey Mike! Sounds great like always!
In the videos, it sounds like the tone has more emphasis than a normal 2203. I personally like having a lot of bite to my tone, but it almost sounds like the high mids are shifted up a little higher than normal. Do you think that's a byproduct of the video...
When I received my 2016 "Limited Edition" Explorers, I was pretty upset about what I saw too. The fretboards were so light, I figured it was either baked maple or grenadillo, and I was ready to send them back. The fretboards almost looked like they were covered in a type of wax.
I cleaned them...
For my Mahogany Slabs, I've been a big fan of the Dirty Fingers or 57 Classics. Once I realized I didn't need super high output pickups anymore, I just let the amp do all the "heavy lifting" gain-wise. Dirty Fingers could still be considered a high output pickup, but I'm liking the tones I've...
Supposedly one of my Mark III Coliseums was modded to be a Mark III++, but I haven't actually gone through the guts to verify if it's a III+ or a III++, but whatever it is, it is definitely smoother, less aggressive than my Mark III Coliseum Blue Stripe, or even my normal Mark III Blue Stripe. I...
I used to hate the 57/57+ combos that came in all my '68RIs. I tried my first set, and started removing them as one of the first things I would do...up until my very last '68RI purchase. I tried going through the guitar, setting everything up, because whoever owned it before didn't know what...
My rig is somewhat similar. I run my Mark IV or Mark III and my Dual Recto in stereo. The Marks tight tracking meshes really well with the looser Recto. Run together, it makes for a giant wall of tone.
Tonally, they occupy a little different spaces, where the Recto accentuates the low mids, and...
Yep. Same riff. I always found it interesting when bands would put their own unique spin on a song (Metallica - Master Of Puppets / David Bowie - Andy Warhol for example), and I'm totally fine with that. It's when a band completely steals a riff and acts like it was just a coincidence. It's...
I normally buy mine for $500 FWIW. Anything over $500 may be warranted if the cab is on good shape and loaded with C90s. Expect to pay a little more if it still has the EVM12Ls. Very few cabs came with the EVMs on the top and bottom, and many come with the EVMs on the closed bottom and C90s on...
Even without all the fuzz, I was thinking that this was a Billy Gibbons guitar. The body looks a little smaller than the Gibson/Dean/Hamer Explorers, but similar to an Explorer Pro.
I'm not a fan of how the PRS headstock looks on an Explorer body style.
Well, I absolutely love my '68RIs, but I've been playing these Gibson Explorers I picked a few months ago more and more. I didn't buy them to replace my LPCs, but they resonate more than any other guitar I've played, and they sound awesome. So they haven't killed my LPCs, but in some instances...
For years, I couldn't stand playing someone else's signature guitar if it was either so iconic that everyone knew THAT guitar was designed/made for someone else, and I still think owning signature guitars is tacky. This is another reason why I love Les Paul Customs.
Unlike the Gibson/Epiphone...
Have you tried pulling the V1 preamp tube and replacing it with a different one? I had a preamp tube go microphonic once, but it stopped after I tried another tube.
I have a Corona Chorus on my board right now as well. I was underwhelmed by the "Tri-Chorus" setting stock on the pedal, but i played around with my own custom toneprint and it really turned the pedal into a beast. They have tone prints that try to replicate the Boss CE pedals (which I also...
Seems like a humble guy.
If someone goes to the extent to slam someone else in their own video, I'd pretty much say said nemesis wins.
But back on topic, yeah, its jewelry, but to me it remind me of those leg braces from Forrest Gump...
