Check out my incredibly talented friend Andy Kodiwein of 26's new song, "Your Pequod:"

On this track, a Baron Custom Amps B120 amplifier was used. The amp was fed different levels of input signal on the distortion channel as the song progressed...

I like a good deal of string tension because it offers wonderful rebound for my picking. I also dislike strings heavier than 11's, so using a lighter string on a longer scale offers great bounciness, juiciness, and kerrang, but none of the floppy characteristics of 8's or 9's in standard ;)
I have a Hot Head set in my all mahogany PRS Mike Mushok Baritone (which is tuned to standard with 10's).
The Hot Head neck is the best neck pickup for lead playing I have ever heard, bar-none. It has none of the muddiness associated with 90% of lead pickups I've owned, and it has plenty of cut...
I have a Hellbaby thanks to the kind gentleman above me \m/
I just got a Hot Head Set and they are some of the most "fun" pickups I have ever played. They are bouncy and juicy, but have tons of definition. The neck pickup is the best neck model I have EVER used. There is none of that annoying...
I think it was a very insightful post. Most of the 6505's fizz factor is 13-15khz which does disappear in a band mix due to the cymbals taking up so much of that space. That frequency range actually has zero benefit in a recording context as well, so you can just LP that area and end up with a...
Did you buy it used? It could just be a dud. Brand new ones out of the box sound phenomenal- I got one last year and it's stuck around ever since. It smoked my old 5150 too.
RJM Rack Gizmo is the best option IMO. You could also use a multi-effects unit with something like a RJM Mini Amp Gizmo if you want to ditch the pedals.
Kyle Rhodes also has a switcher coming out: http://rhodesamplification.com/products/switchers/b8
To be fair, I think we should wait until they hit the music stores and actually find out the pricing and how they sound. My buddy Rodney who is a Schecter artist played the Hellwin at NAMM, and while he hated the name (I agree- it really is a freakin' silly name), he said it sounded killer.

Cheers again to everyone \m/ Good feedback is good news :D
Laura, thanks for the kind words about The New Rochelle's track. I just put up a new track by them this morning called "Cuidado" that is from their recent split that they did with me. I hope you like it
