As far as versatility goes, I'd say a coil-tappable JB might be the ticket.
I've been developing an appreciation for passives lately. The JB has a higher output, but as of right now, I would love to have a coil-tappable 57 Classic Plus. There's something about the A2 magnet that my amps love...
The body looks accurate, but as mentioned above, either the guy had the transition from the neck to body sanded down, or it's a terrible fake, even if you are able to ignore the terrible water slide Gibson logo. If this Explorer were refinished correctly, and no mods were made, I've seen these...
This isn't the first ad I've seen this week where a Mark III is listed over $3K+! Prices have definitely been rising up in the last 10 years on these amps, but a combo for $3K is a little ambitious! If these are selling for $3K, I'll be happy because I'm sitting on a gold mine, but I'll also be...
I would recommend this as well. The only '68RIs with a slim neck are the Tribursts they were sold by GC. All the other '68RIs have super thick necks, that are larger than any of the other Reissues. If you can find a '68RI made between 2002 and 2005, these have the fattest necks of an Gibson...
I'm of the same mindset. I appreciate everyone posting their experiences, both to alert the community about awesome gear and gear to avoid. It's just as important to know what companies treat their customers right, and companies/buyers/sellers that are looking to exploit loopholes at your...
That's what my bathroom scale says, but I can't understand how that could be correct. All I know is my LPCs are between 8-9 pounds, and they're solid wood (no weight relief). The Explorer is CONSIDERABLY lighter. So, i might guess it's no less than 5 pounds, but way below 8-9 pounds.
EDIT...
Anytime man! PM me if you want to know a few places I found that still have them. I was trying to find the specs on the original 1983/1984 Explorers and comparing them to the 1984 Reissue, and (as always) Gibson has some little quirks between models, but the biggest difference was that the...
Thanks man! Yeah, they're total sluts. Haha! I got a killer price on them, so it all made sense. I remember reading a while ago that GC was going to stop negotiating price, but I was able to get them down to used prices on these, so two it is!
Thanks DC! I'm not too big a fan of the whole...
So, I finally achieved it. I've wanted an Explorer since I first started playing guitar, and I can finally say that I own one. I wanted to score an Alpine White Explorer, but the 2007 Explorer I was looking at on Craigslist vanished, I wanted to find one that had no pickguard. I was serious...
That's an awesome story!
I now have a psycho hose beast for a neighbor. I helped her move in, and in the same day, she tried kicking my dog (in my front yard no less) because she has a "fear of animals". She refuses to speak to me, and if she wants something, she just slaps the side of my...
There was a place near Camelback and 7th Ave. area that I took a LPC I owned. Thefuy used to be Flotsam and Jetsam's old tech, but he screwed up my LPC really badly, so don't go there.
Yeah, that would be a decent score, as long as the guts are still original! I'm not a huge fan of the 50 watters, and I would go get that thing if I was within a hour's drive!
My local Craigslist has sucked for months now. I've looked for everything from cabs to heads, and all sorts of...
Dang, those are some deep scallops! Compare those scallops to the Yngwie Strat's scallops! They look like valleys compared to Yngwie's Strat!
I have a question that in all my years, I don't think it's ever been specified, but does anyone know if there is a theory to how deep scallops are...
Nice score man!
To be honest, I've tried to list one of my RGDX (I forgot the model number) for sale several times, but each time I come back to it, it plays amazingly! It's currently getting outfitted with gold. These RGs from the early 90s were great guitars!
Nice score man! Sucks that you had to wait a few extra days, but it sounds like you got some extra case candy!
I love my Pelham Blue LPC. I was hesitant to buy mine since I've never seen PH in person, but after seeing it in person, it is one of my favorite colors.
You should post pics in...
Yeah, the earlier studios were in a different league altogether compared to the most recent stuff. There was an ex-Gibson employee on another site that said that the Studios made from '92-'95 were the best years for studios. After first-hand experience, I'll add that the Studios from '92-'95...
Great job on these shootouts! I usually drift towards the EVs and V30s, but out of all the samples, I think the EV sounded less full. It would be great for cleans, but for breakup, the creambacks sounded a little fuller (if not more muffled), while the Blue and V30 sounded a little more in your...
I actually don't like EMG's gold plating. It's great they offer it as an option, but it looks a little too "washed out" compared to the gold hardware on my guitars. It almost seems like the gold hue on EMG's pickups matches best with the gold hardware found on Epiphones.
I ended up installing...
