The main thing I see students doing incorrectly is rushing through it. Go slow at first. There are a few things to keep in mind, and they may seem obvious;
Don't separate the strokes. Let the pick "fall" from string to string. Think of it as dragging, or pulling the pick when doing upstrokes...
I wouldn't be surprised if there is a difference. The only way I could tell is to compare the same guitar without the block. I like to think that my ears aren't horrible, but the difference just didn't leap out at me.
Speaking of tone being subjective, I recently did an A/B of batteries, and I...
I'm very guilty of being anal retentive about tonal characteristics, but I didn't really notice a difference when I swapped out the trem block of my Ibanez Jem for a brass one.
Thanks for replying.
I don't understand about bypassing LDR1 with a wire. L1 and L2 light very well, and the solder joints on everything look really solid. L3 lights so dimly that I had to check from many angles while unplugging the battery to figure out if it was active at all.
I want to fix this thing myself and then sell it cheap.
I took it apart, and it seems to me that the red light indicator (L3 in the schematic) doesn't light as bright as the others, and the signal when the pedal is plugged in is really really quiet. Is it the indicator that needs replacing, or...
I just ordered it off of Amazon last week, I'm sure it's awesome. There are only a few things I want to hear him talk about (that I haven't heard him talk about before), like altered dominant ideas, and maybe his approach to playing over more difficult changes.
GREAT player, GREAT guy. He has done a few solo shows in Seattle. The last one I went to, he hung out with the audience during intermission. I got to talk to him for about 10 minutes or so. After the show he again hung out with the audience. He remembered my name when I said goodbye, which...
I finally got "Dogman", and can't get over how awesome it is. I've been a fan for over 20 years, but just never got around to getting the album. I'm always moved by King's X.

Oh yeah, I should mention what I dislike. I HATED the D sonic. It had a "raspy" quality.Overbearing. And I strongly disliked the Evolution. Shrill no matter how you EQ it.
So far I like the Steve Morse and Fred, but I'm still experimenting. I want to try Andersons next.
The Morse is pretty cool, it splits fairly well. Still doesn't sound like a single coil when split, to me. The Fred is nice, with pretty good harmonics, but not too high output. They both clean up...
