I'm guessing there might be some bassists or guitarists who also play bass ;)
instead of buying a separate bass amp i'm looking into a bass preamp to pair with a QSC power amp i have
i've always loved the ampeg tone and the SVP Pro or SVP CL springs to mind, but over here in europe they're...
i'm thinking a good clean and pedals might be the way forward
gain wise british kind of gains , a solid vox combo might be something to look at it as well
thx for all the responses , just came back from a gig weekend
budget wise , i'm looking at used amps up to around 600 euros (800 usd?) live in europe so the price don't always equate but always looking more options to have a good idea what's out there
i'm in the process of changing my rig for the umpteenth time ;)
I'm just having thoughts of getting some kind of i guess ideally fender style clean combo , one for the tone and also to some extent transportation (everthing in one package so to speak)
essentially i'd be just using clean and...
greenbacks for me as well , just have that right kind of vibe with marshalls be it JMPs,Plexis 800s etc etc
had nothing but v30s for like 6-7 years, made the switch and haven't really looked back since
i'd like to try it with say a G12h30 or the creamback G-65s those are other cool speakers...
i've been curious about the zoom units as i've been using the pod hd 500 now in my rig for a little while
the routing options and flexibility unfortunately are a big deal breaker for me, if the g3/g5 had some kind of fx loop that would be great (i use a bass preamp/di within the FX loop for...
JCM800 2204 from 83 , no mods - playing with an attenuator , greenback cab
it is a bright sounding amp, but cab/speaker choice will make quite a difference, marshalls for me usually sound best with greenbacks
w/following tubes, wanted a bit more range/lower gain on the input
v1: 5751
v2...
had a 333xl for a short while , wasn't too bad to be fair
for me didn't seem to have any character to it, got the job done as it were but nothing more, was neither a 'wow this is amazing for the price'
bought it used, and put it back up for sale a week later i think , i was also a bit weary of...
on my jcm800 2204, it's an EQ pedal that sounded the best after trying a few overdrives (MXR, Maxon, BB preamp and boss) the overdrives did their thing, but the EQ was the most transparent and was the nicest sounding of the lot, very tweakable as well
I've been doing this now for a while on guitars with poly/sticky necks and works an absolute charm, cheap and easy fix, sandpaper works great too, but have to get the right kind and not as easily available over here
just wondering how many other people do this? or prefer using sandpaper or...
congrats =0 they are indeed freaaakking loud
re the attenuator, if it was me i'd look for one that has variable ohmage, be it spending some more, more flexible in the long run should you get other amps/cabs etc..
