Use a router with a template bearing bit. You can buy a humbucker template or make your own from plex.

The Shiva I tried was the 6L6 model, in about 2005-06.
I know of no amp that everyone universally loves or hates.
I just don't see the point of threads bashing a certain name brand, and judging the character of people who may have a different preference than your own.

To clarify, the Shiva has nice cleans and probably the best reverb I've ever heard.
Spent about an hour with it at volume, the dirt channel absolutely sucks with or without pedals in front.
Played the Shiva side-by-side with a Rev1, first time playing...
Depends on the speaker though I could not tell you why. I do notice a significant change in Eminence Legend V12-16's, but I did not notice much if any change in the Swamp Thang 12-8's.
The Tone Zone works great for beefing up very bright guitars. I have it in a couple maple neck, ash and alder body 25.5 scale guitars. I do not like it in dark sounding guitars however, gets a little too muddy.
