Personally, I tried a cab w/ blockers and heard the "phase-y-ness" and did not like it.
What worked for me, as far as diminishing the high end "beaming", was really, really breaking in the speakers well.
I did try with the foam donut thing and that seemed to work but I did not play with it...
I love the Eminence Legends in my 4x12, but to me they felt a little thin and had a weak bass response in the 2x12 cab.
I replaced them with Eminence SwampThangs in the 2x12 and am very pleased with my 2x12 now.
+1
Although I prefer USA Custom Guitar necks over Warmoth and Fender both, it's really pretty easy to screw together a Tele!
If there's a "have to have" Fender body you like, check out the ebay store Reliable Fender Parts or Strat o Sphere, this guy is a Fender dealer who disassembles new...
Once upon a time, Tim wound them all himself and they were very, very good. Nowadays, other workers make them and the some of the materials have changed as well, making them average to not so good.
Find old ones if you can. With the exchange rate, new production has a poor rate of return, tone...
Nik's got a tweed kit. For what I'm looking for, he suggests his newest amp, Dumble clone Steel String Singer, not available in kit form yet, get yer money $$$$.
Ideally, would like a late 60's blackface super reverb or really early silverface super reverb that I can use with my existing cabs...
I've google searched this but would like some input from anyone having firsthand experience in this dept.
Looking for a blackface or early silverface clone, not a "based upon" or "improved" interpretation, in a head and/or kit format.
Thanks!
Oh, that. That's the other thing it does.  Use your tuner as a kill switch or get a volume pedal. Make sure it has shields on all the preamp tubes.
Your guitar is fine, though some pickups will be more prone to this than others. I used 5150 combos for a dozen years traveling around...
Ummm... I don't know how to break this to you, but it is what it is. Get used to clicking to the Rhythm channel after every song. It has essentially a built in compressor on the Lead channel. It's a byproduct of compression. The sound you hear is electrons dying.
Finishing the frets gets a little tricky. Though the fretboard is probably final sanded on a jig to retain the conical shape, the frets have to be dressed by hand.
They are OK if done right, but I've seen a lot of not so good compounds, meaning that the action was not consistent throughout the...
Really? I hear the same kind of mid to lower gain tones going on, Cameron Atomica uses EL34's right? This one is 5881's. Would very much like to compare them side by side.
