My two McCartys are a rosewood neck one and a Korina w/braz board. They just sounded better than the customs I had... never really owned a cu24 that I liked, probably because of how the pickup is located I guess. McCartys have a thicker body, as previously mentioned and mine are wrap around...
I hate the 5 way rotary selector, it's the suck. McCarty switching is better, but it's still a pain in the ass to pull up a tone knob to get a single coil sound. (McCarty has a regular three way toggle, then a push/pull pot to split the coils). I've owned eight or so, Kept three - two McCartys...
Doesn't really work as well as it used to. They know I'm serious when I make an offer or ask about gear, my wife would have a fit if she knew how much I've spent there last 4 or so years, mainly on used stuff. I had a bandmate who worked there who I tried to buy everything through, he used to be...
My EJ was like that too out of the box. Did you try adjusting the trimpot on the board? Took about 5 minutes, most of which was realigning the single screw to get the case back on - and it was smooth city afterwards. Didn't need a meter to measure voltage either, just had it flipped over and...
I'm on 2 years plus with the Kemper, still loving it. Probably the longest honeymoon period I've had with a piece of gear.
I recently sold a Two Notes CAB after playing with it for a few months - I think they have the best IRs right now. I've gotten pretty good at doing Kemper profiles, miking...
Thanks guys. Drums are a Roland V-kit running SSD for the drum samples. Bass was a direct out from a Sansamp. I think the splawn would have sounded better with another i5 mic on it, the SM57 is really harsh sounding to me on most amps, I really prefer the audix.
Sorry some of you can't get it to play, I uploaded a wav file to soundcloud and I guess it works for some and not for others.
Regarding which is which and who is who, first solo is indeed a Bogner XTC second is the Splawn.
Aliasing hasn't been an issue for quite some time. Not sure how long it's been since you used one. Also I never noticed the aliasing in the first place, it wasn't until Cliff (Axe FX owner) started mentioning it that suddenly it was a huge issue. Then the Kemper updated and it went away.
Look, it's a real amp clip! At my band rehearsals, we typically use real amps because I have a bunch of them set up in the amp room. Last rehearsal other guitarist and I played through a Bogner XTC into a 72 Marshall straight cab and the other through a Splawn Quick Rod into a 76 Marshall...
I always get sucked into these discussions when I see em. :) Personally, I didn't and still don't like 99% of the profiles that are out there, free or paid. That's why I started making my own and then selling them. If you mic up your amp, and make a profile with the Kemper - it's going to sound...
If you end up using it I'd encourage you to buy it, since if everyone uses it in trial mode only then eventually they have no reason to keep developing it. More than worth $60 in my opinion.
There may be a sticker in one of the pickup cavities or writing on it with info about the options. You probably could contact PRS with the SN and get more info. Very nice guitar, and glad it's staying in the family.
On 3, put a 100k pot in series with say a 10k resistor so you can go from say 10k to 110k, or whatever value you want - make it variable. If you don't want to drill a hole, wire up a pot, with the chassis open CAREFULLY dial it in where it sounds best and then measure the resistance. Then hard...
Used it for a couple of years now, friend of mine works in a recording studio and he prefers using it over anything else. I have used Pro Tools, Sonar and Ableton Live and a few others... I really like Reaper. Plus they seem to actually listen to feedback and want to improve their product. I...
Used my Kemper for every live gig since Feb of 2012. Play small to medium bars mostly, did a few outdoors gigs to between a few hundred to a thousand or so people. Currently own a Fortin modded Marshall JVM, Friedman KS Mod '79 Marshall, Bogner 101B, 70 and 72 marshall Super Lead 100s, 74 Super...
Ceriatone Expression here that Nik built. Super awesome amp and I even had a guy who owns a real 'wreck say that mine sounded ballpark. Build quality is awesome, If I found a Ceriatone locally used at a decent price I'd snap it up personally. Fantastic value for the $.
