i have never played either but soley by clips ive heard id say XTC. which soldano does warren haynes use? he gets the thickest meaty sound with his and its far what i think of when a Soldano comes to mind
whats up carl. while it didnt sound like his dumbles it still sounded like ROBBEN. and it probably always will no matter if hes playing an LP, a tele, whatever. and yes i agree he was very loud, but larrys tone didnt wow me, even his playing didnt that night
yeah i dunno, i really think he can get his tone from anything, he has a certain touch that shines thru even if hes just using a clean fender he pretty much sounds the same. i saw the larry/robben tour a few years back and robben's fender twin+zendrive rig sounded better than larrys dumble.
i have a heavy hand when it comes to picking strumming and fretting, i seem to do everything hard, so 9's are just too light for my touch. i use 10's on everything but thinking about going to 11's on my LP i keep tuned in Eb
keep in mind different guitars were used for all the clips, the hulk was ralphs purple gmw which is a very bright guitar to my ears, while for example the cali mod 2 clip was the suhr with that aldrich pickup which compresses more , but both sound great! i wish i got to play the hulk with my LP
that was a suhr pro series with an aldrich in the bridge, not sure what was in neck but if you notice when i switched to the neck it was SUPER noisey, we were having issues with that. but for whatever reason that same guitar was fine when playing thru the meathead and the axefx(which i dont...
