The only thing I dont like is playing a Ruby PRS if wearing a purple shirt... It just looks terrible!

wont the purple shirt ALWAYS look terrible..? :scared:

I don't care about mixng brands of amps and cabs as long as they are black, I'm not a huge fan of colored heads and cabs unless it's those white diezels or bogners. I mix match all the time. I care alot about being happy with the tone of my guitars and amps and that's where it starts for me and once I figure out what I like I will then look for it in the best condition I can find even if it takes a little bit longer for get the perfect tone for me in the condition I like.

As far as overall damage and shit goes. I really don't care. I had a 85 LP Custom that had burns and huge dents all over the place and I loved it to bits. If anything damaged/ripped tolex/guitars/pedals are cooler to me.

+1

My 78 LP Custom is just the same, covered in dings/dents/scratches/corroded hardware etc. But to me i prefer that look a LOT more than a brand new mint condition LP Custom haha :D

There are going to be the typical "Who cares! As long as it sounds good!" responses. But I wonder if these are also the type of people who wear pyjama pants in public because they're comfortable or drive a certain gas guzzling beater car because functionally it works fine, so...who cares!

For me it doesn't so much have to do with matching as it does uniform placement. Black is best, I'm not into red, white, green, purple or animal skin amps and cabs. Sorry, not my style.
So basic black it just fine. After all we're talking about electronics and speakers here, not Ikea furniture.
FWIW, I neither wear PJs in public, plus I drive a Scion XB, that said...the look of gear, especially back line stuff I couldn't care less about.

I could care less if my socks match.

I have brand loyalty to certain extent, but as far as matching, doesn't matter. I do like to make things look good, but I wouldn't add or subtract anything based on looks. (this does NOT apply to groupies)

What ever sounds and plays best goes.

In that order. If it looks good its a bonus.

+1 now, but in the 80's, it was a different story.... :D

The only looks i would not compromise are old Marshall Checkerboard/bakset weave cabs and of course a real Fender Stratocaster.

I really don't care if anything matches, but most of my stuff is black anyway.

That about sums it up for me too. Black is good.

I will say, I do like stuff to match (my Mesa rig gives me a chubby) but it's far from mandatory. Oh, and I play my guitars. I would never buy anything with the expressed purpose to re-sell it some day. My toys are hammered because I use them.

I do like things to match up reasonably well if possible, but I don't care about matching brands at all. Mainly I just like the colors to match between my amp head and cab to some degree.

Yup. I don't mind if heads and cabs match, but I think my Splawn cab blows most Mesa cans out of the water, so I don't care too much if it doesn't match my Dual Recto.
