    Soldano SLO30 vid here.

I used to feel that Soldano was a bit hyped. I played a few SLOs and liked them but always seemed a little too flubby and fizzy.. My buddy bought a HR50 and I saw his band at a gig where he had the master on 7. It sounded glorious. This big, thick and articulate chewy tone with balls and...

Mesa Boogie Mark IV vs. Mark V

One cool use of the IV's RHY2 channel is to use an amp in a box type pedal with it. That channel takes a high gain pedal better than just about any other amp channel I've ever tried. For some reason, pedals seem a lot more "real", like an alternate amp channel that is very convincing.

Anybody try the new Line 6 Pod Go?

I got mine recently. I used a POD HD500 for years and the layout clicked for me immediately. The Go is really cool. Lots of power in a cool small package (like Mailman;) I haven’t had much luck running it into the front of an amp yet, or the fx loop. Everything sounds really bright into the...

Worst rock concert you've ever been to?

Two come to mind: Kiss at rock fest in Cadott, WI. I believe it was 2006. I was expecting a killer show and it was a let down in every way possible. Just terrible...must’ve been an off night... for the band and the sound guy, and whoever was controlling the pyro, and okay you get the point...

    buying guitars before playing them

All but one of my guitars were purchased before playing them. I love a couple of them and like several a lot. Some are just cheap and there to do a “job” or have a specific pickup, body style, etc. I rarely find “the one” when I go to guitar shops. There have been only a few over the years...

    Speakers for Mark IV

For me it’s the Mesa Traditional 412 + Mark IV all the way. I typically don’t love those Mesa V30 speakers but in that cab they sound great and match the IV perfectly.

Loving the Marshall Silver Jubilee Reissue | VIDEO

Nice riffing and sweet LP! The Jube is great, got one from sweetwater a couple years back when they were cheap and it’s definitely one of my favorite amps.

Vintage Mesa 4x12 Question. For a Mark IV

This. The Traditional/Stiletto 412 is the best for the IV.

Dream Realized - Bogner Ecstasy 3534

Nice, congrats! I'm looking forward to trying one myself. I'd like to hear your thoughts on how it compares to the 101b since you know that amp well.

Just bought my fourth Mark IIC+.

I hope I come across another IIc+, just to try it. I may try disconnecting the verb on my IV. and going back to el34s in outer sockets too

NAD - Mesa Boogie Mark IV revb...

Congrats! I’ve had a IVB around since 2011 or so and it’s been pretty frustrating the entire time. I know it’s because I’m running it into a recto 212. I just don’t like that cab with the Mark IV. I LOVE the Traditional/Stiletto 412 with it. That’s the cab that made me fall in love with the IV...

    Fryette PS-2

Cool. What are the connections to the PS-2 from the computer? Just out from the interface to the top 'line in' jack on the PS-2? I'd love to try this someday with Overloud and Fortin Nameless.

    Fryette PS-2

I’m planning on buying one this year. I can play fairly loud in the “studio” but I’d like to really crank my amps into their sweet spots. I also have an old Fender that would be cool to crank up and add a loop. The ability to power modelers or preamps with it is a bonus.

    Ecstasy 3534 is in: CLIPS

Sorry if I missed it but how was this recorded? Speakers/cab/mic or IR? The clips sound incredible. more pissed off sounding than what you typically get from an Ecstasy.

Creamback H vs Vintage 30 - Comparison Vid & Similar?

They are similar but I can still hear quite a difference. The H sounded much more musical, although bright. The V30 has that dry buzz and aggressiveness that can't quite be dialed out but it also helps it cut. The truth is that the cab dimensions make almost more of a difference than the...
