What don't you like about the CB H75?
As I mentioned in my earlier post, it sounds all thin and harsh, compared to the M-65, Greenback, or even the Vintage 30. It makes me wonder if I got a bad one, but I have had several people tell me they had the same results, so I don't want to waste another $170 on one just to find out.
To be fair, I have only compared the speakers in identical 1x12 ported cabs, they may sound great in a 4x12, or maybe they just like sealed 1x12 cabs, which I plan to test soon. Cabinet porting can really affect the tone of a speaker.
I did several shootouts with identical 1x12 dual-ported cabs, using a Greenback, Vintage 30, Celestion A-type, WGS Invader, G12H30, Creamback M-65, Creamback M-75, and a few others I've forgotten.
All cabs were switched on the fly with a switchbox, so no memory lag between hearing them. All tests were blind, even I didn't know what speaker was in each cabinet. Everyone picked the Vintage30 as the best all-around speaker, tied with the Greenback, followed by the A-type (a surprise there), the Creamback M-65 (I really wanted this to be the one), the G12H-30, the WGS-Invader, and the Creamback H-75 was dead last.
The Creamback H-75 I bought is painful to listen to, really bad, at least in this cabinet. it sounds nothing like the video posted above. Maybe a little more break-in time will help, but all the other speakers sounded decent right out of the box. The M-65 is nice, but a bit muffled on the high end, would probably work great in a 4x12 with a bright amp. The Greenback would be ideal, but the 25W power rating rules it out for use in a 1x12 with higher-powered amps. The Vintage 30 was the big surprise, as I usually hate them, but they sound so right in the ported cab. The other surprise was the new Celestion A-type - it also sounded good, but not quite as good as the V30 or Greenback.
Your mileage may vary.
