At the risk of sounding like a fanboy, my knowledge of the existence of Blackmachines and Diezels (and Bareknuckle pickups for that matter) is pretty much down to this guy. :)

(Pinney?) Personally, I'm a big fan of the Tung-Sol 12AX7. Very nice balanced, musical and pure sound, not as biting in the top-end as the EHX ones I tried, nor as dark and gainy as the JJs. I've never had any reliability issues with them either. I haven't tried the TAD ones to compare though...
