Hey Music Guru's..
I'm just now learning theory after playing the guitar mostly rock and blues for many years just doing bluesy stuff and playing the pentatonic scale of course.
So, I understand a little bit of theory as in the Major and Minor Chords, Augmented, Dimished, etc, and the scales...
I think EMG's sound good anyway, but especially in basswood or mahogany or any guitar that's blury sounding or a little muddy to me, and it just brings out the harmonics, punch, sustain, etc,.. So do the duncans to me also, but I like the tone of the EMG's in my experience a lot better. I'm...
Snip..
Love that Universe guitar man. I need to get one of those too! LOL..As well as about 900 other things to go with my current rig.. :-)
Thanks man..
That's a great idea. I know a lot of people, me included are tube amp nuts, and I normally prefer the same, but man, I think Tech 21 has something with their stuff, even though it's solid state. It's funny. A lot of guys will buy a huge expensive tube amp and then use a bunch of solid state...
I didn't know they were developing a custom Fly Rig. I'm interested in seeing it. I was going to get the standard one and still may as I've always been a huge fan of Tech 21 products. I used to use one of their pedals that had 3 different amps and cab selections, etc, and it would work direct...
If you don't mind me asking, what amps are you simulating with the 11r and what guitars are you using with what pickups, etc?
Thanks man.. Good stuff, great tone and picking! :-)
Just listened to some more of your clips. Great stuff man! Very cool. Love it.. Love the blues like style, or something. Hard to explain, but love your writing and the tone man. Keep it up.. Great stuff.. Regards
T
Sounds great man. How do you like the eleven rack? I mean, does it really have the feel of a tube amp as they advertise or is that just marketing may I ask?
Thanks so much
T
I think pickups are probably about 97% of the tone of a guitar.. Maybe how they're mounted and scale length, etc.. So one can really change the sound of an instrument with pickups which is great if you ask me!
Hey Ghosty999.
Yeah, it has a preamp that is tube, and I'm assuming that's why I like it. It's the gain structure, etc, that I like. The thing about the power amp being solid state that I like is that I'm able to get that crunch, etc, even at low volume, but it still doesn't have that magical...
I really like the DD for set neck short scaled guitars. It sounds like a beast, but it's too bright for some guitars in my humble opinion where as I love the Custom 5 too though. The EVO I thought was too bright too, and had too much high end kinda like a JB or something.. I'm usually though...
I would think that a short scale instrument like an LP even on a strat would be a bit bass heavy or have less highs and mids, but that's just a guess, but I say this because the string length is going to be shorter it would seem and therefore as I normally, and have played many LP's and strats...
Thanks guys. Yeah, one of the reasons I was thinking about the shorter neck is that I like the scale of a Les Paul, but the feel of a strat hanging on my body so to speak because it's not so bulky in long hours of playing sometimes.. (Not often in this old age I might add..hehe) but, it's just...
