Cliff was majorly into blues and exploring music. Those that say Cliff would be rolling in his grave are full of it IMO. If anything they would be even more diverse if Cliff was still alive. Cliff wasn't a metal head overall. He was very diverse musically. Thrash metal was not his complete...
The thing that has kept me a big Metallica fan since the beginning is their diversity. I personally love that every album is different. No matter my rocking mood I can always find a Metallica album that suits it.
Personally not a fan of bands that create album after album that sound the...
I like many brands, Gibson and ESP are my main 2, but for me it just depends on the individual guitar. I own a 2002 PRS Singlecut that plays and sounds incredible.
The Mark IV manual gives some basic settings to get the Mark IIC+ tone. IMO they need tweaked to your taste though.
IMO the LEAD GAIN / PULL FAT should be pulled if you are wanting that heavy IIC+ sound.
You can get it without the LEAD GAIN / PULL FAT pulled but it just takes more tweaking...
Around 17:20 they walk past Hefields IIC+ with the settings listed. Really do not know if these have been seen before, probably have, but interest IMO, especially for those wanting to know.

Yeah, I have a ESP explorer also and have owned many in the past.
This Gibson just holds something special. It is scratched and beat to hell but it plays and sounds amazing.
Still needs alot of work in the hardware, pickups and a little polishing (to even out the finish in the lower bout) department. The guitar is beat and scratched to hell since I play it hard but I guess that suits it so I will probably leave the finish as is.
I checked a few places but they...
I would really be surprised if Mike let anyone continue with the Soldano name. It was his baby for all these years and he was so protective of it.
Soldano's made by anyone else just will not be the same IMO. They might be really good amps but just not the same as when Mike made them.
In a...
Thanks guys, all great suggestions.
The Explorer currently has the stock 496R/500T in it. I like them ok in the Explorer but the 496R/500T pickups in my Gibson Les Paul just kill and sound amazing.
Not sure what the difference is other than pickups vary some?
I really like the Gibson 496R/500T set but just can not decide on if I want to keep them or go with the EMG 60/81 setup.
I am doing some mods to my Gibson Explorer and just looking for personal preferences.
I have tried contacting Mike and Soldano tech support the last few months, even before this topic came up. I have never heard any response from either one?
I'm guessing he is just overwhelmed or he is just ignoring now.
Would love to hear clips. I have been on the fence for a long while with the original Helios due to certain features but I think it's overall tone is amazing. If the Helios Eclipse tone is as good or better with better features then I may be in trouble. :D
