IMO a lot of the V30 dislike does have to do with new speakers versus broken in speakers. New V30's are very harsh and sound poor. Well broken in V30's sound balanced and awesome.
I really dislike Soldano cabs. IMO Mike stays true to his amps but his cabs are a different story.
He started out designing his amps around V30's. IMO his dislike for V30's is due to business and him pushing other speakers that are better for Soldano expense wise more than tonally.

I love the Helios I played. The Runt, not so much for my style of playing. The Helios has killer gain in the 80's mode and sounds really great to me. One of these days I may own one.
The lack of gain and the "not so great" master volume are the 2 things that really turned me off to buying a Runt 50. When I first heard about them I was hoping Dave was going to do a affordable high gainer but it just didn't sound anywhere close to what I was hoping for or wanting.
Congrats! Looks killer!
If you ever decide you want the depth mod just send it to Mike. I think it was around $300 plus shipping for the depth mod. Worth it IMO and these days I think he does most of the mod work himself. I know he personally did the depth mod on my HR25 and it sounds so...
I had Mike add the depth mod to my Soldano Hot Rod 25 and it made a huge difference. Not just in the bass frequencies but also in the mids. I love it.
To me it makes the amp more versatile and tweaking your depth along with your bass and mid controls gives you sounds you just can't get...
Never personally played one but I've heard the volume taper on the Runt's isn't that great. Not sure if that is true but I've seen a few owners post that it goes from either quiet to all out loud, really not a great taper compared to other Friedmans. Maybe something else to consider if you...
+1. They seem to be decent amps but overall the one I played didn't hold a candle to my old Peavey Red Stripe. I spent about an hour with one and it wasn't a bad by any means but at the same time it didn't blow my mind like the hype it's getting online.
I know they have many options...
Same as I was thinking but to me the Peavey Bandits sound much better. The BOSS isn't a bad amp but I don't get the hype either. Plenty of good cheap amps out there.
I would love to go to the St. Louis show but not sure if I can. For those that can get to one of the shows I say go for it. Metallica is still one of the best live shows around today. Just sound amazing!
The Mark IV's are killer IMO and take all pedals great. It is my favorite of all the Mesa Marks I have tried. Just super clear and articulate with a grinding tone non of the other Mesa Marks can do exactly the same.
It really depends on what you want. Special paint, graphics, inlays, etc.. all cost extra.
Considering most "ESP"s these days range from $3500-$6000+, I would venture a full on custom order with the special inlays, paint, etc... you are wanting would be well into that range if not more.

Great looking guitar! I love the Horizons but am more of a Singlecut/Explorer player now. I have one superstrat style guitar and it's a 2001 ESP USA M-II but I don't really play it to much these days.
It was my first ESP and I ordered it brand new in 2001. Waited around 8 months to get it...
Yeah, the avatar pic wouldn't support anything but a tiny picture. It is a killer guitar. I had my doubts about doing the modifications but finally said screw it, since I love the Hetfield Iron Cross look, so I went for it. I didn't do any of the aging so it looks like a fairly clean Gibson...
It's not for sale at the moment but if I ever do decide to sell I will give you first pick. It's the best playing and sounding Explorer I've ever owed. I've owned/sold many ESP and Gibson Explorers and this one is my all time favorite. Just can't let it go right now but who knows in the...
To me EMG's sound really great. They get a bad rap at times but they do sound killer and they do sound different in every guitar, regardless of the people that say they sound the same in every guitar. Believe me, none of my EMG equipped guitars sound the same, none of them. The...
Definitely miss the ESP Standards. They are just such amazing guitars. Glad I got mine back in the day and have held onto them. Still own 6 ESP Standards/Custom Shops.
