I got an esp horizon from DannyM today. Super quick, easy transaction btw.. also traded one of my jcm800's I had for sale to a friend for a real clean 3channel triple rec. really stoked to have a dedicated metal rig again. Started a new project that will go from ambient clean to odd-metered brutal rhythms.
Should be an interesting writing session on Monday. Gonna swap out the emg's with a set of bkp's I have in my backup guitar, but this guitar already plays super nice and rings like a bell.

ESP Standards are really nice. I bought an Eclipse and an EX this month. I've always been an LTD guy, but after playing Standards, it's a huge difference in sound and playability. Throw a boost in front of that Rec and enjoy.

I'm kinda finding that out. I've owned a couple and still have a lower model eclipse that actually plays awesome after some fret work and some pups, but this guitar so far just blows it away clarity and resonance-wise, and all I've done is degloss the neck and change strings so I could play it today.

Nice score!! I gotta lot of love for ESP's. That ones a real beauty!!

What a great gear day, love days like that, congrats

That is a sweet rig! everything is so pristine looking almost like no matter what you play it will sound good!

They both do have a few dings, but still fairly clean for older pieces of gear. Give them a year with me and I bet the look their age lol.

Definitely miss the ESP Standards. They are just such amazing guitars. Glad I got mine back in the day and have held onto them. Still own 6 ESP Standards/Custom Shops.

This is my first standard. I've always been more of a gibbo guy, but I may have started something with this one lol. I like it so much I haven't brought myself to take the emg's out of it yet.

To me EMG's sound really great. They get a bad rap at times but they do sound killer and they do sound different in every guitar, regardless of the people that say they sound the same in every guitar. Believe me, none of my EMG equipped guitars sound the same, none of them. The characteristics of the wood show through, even with active pickups like EMG's.

I'm a Gibson guy also along with my ESP's. I have several (6) Gibsons also. Both are just kick ass and awesome guitars. I don't personally prefer one over the other. I just love killer guitars and play what I love and I love all my Gibsons and I love all my ESP's. Don't want to let any of them go.

It's not for sale at the moment but if I ever do decide to sell I will give you first pick. It's the best playing and sounding Explorer I've ever owed. I've owned/sold many ESP and Gibson Explorers and this one is my all time favorite. Just can't let it go right now but who knows in the future. :D
