I'd attend an ampfest in a heartbeat if I saw one reasonably close by. I have to drive about 2 hours to find a music store that carries higher quality gear and even then it's still mostly mainstream run-of-the-mill stuff.

I've been wondering about this thing myself, seems like it would be great for a pedalboard based fly-in rig. I would probably go with a single channel Marshall and some sort of distortion pedal if I was doing black metal but I imagine a 5150/6505 would be alright too. You want lots of treble...

That thing is clean! It's hard to beat a good single channel 800, they can be more versatile than you'd think.

I haven't listened to any clips of it yet nor am I much of a Misha/Periphery fan but I have to hand it to them, it looks like a lot of thought went into that design and feature set. There's a lot going on but it's incredibly practical.

I use D'Addario EJ22's (13-56) for drop B on my SG and I really like them, they aren't super tight though. The wound G seems to help out a lot too.

Huge fan of those things! I have an SS-140C that was my go to metal amp for years, it's hard to find anything much better for old school death/thrash tones.
