tried that Sykes/Bob Rock thing... clip

Speaking of the Mimiq, this setup worked well for me.

    Jose tone in a pedal.

This one claims to get the Sykes ‘87 tone. However, I have one, and to my ears, it doesn’t. It’s a really nice sounding pedal though.

Scorpion's Love At First Sting .. turns 40

The first album I bought that was such a disappointment, that I considered throwing it away. What a letdown after the awesomeness of “Blackout”.

THE amp I used for all our party gigs back in the late 80s.(ran it through an ancient Carvin 4x12) It never failed.

An album that’s hated by hard rock fans…

I absolutely do not hate “Never Mind The Bollocks”. A classic album. Chuck Berry on meth.

Were 80s tones as good as we remember them?

Yeah, I think some of them are. George Lynch’s tone on “Back For The Attack”. Doug Aldrich’s tone on Lion’s “Dangerous Attraction”. Jake E Lee’s tone on the first Badlands album. Akira Takasaki’s tone on “Live Loud Alive” and “Thunder In The East”. Just to name a few.

    Sammy Hagar: 5150

Satch’s tone is nice. It’s chunkier than the tone he’s most associated with.

    Killer Outro Solos

At ~4:50 feedback and whammy abuse followed by double tracked(triple?) tapping madness. At 5:39 Mr.Vai launches into his finest 2:30.

    NGD…

    Nice! Reminds me of an ex-girlfriend’s ‘68 Camaro!! And…, the PT100 is a f_cking badass amp!!(I’m a biased PT100 owner.)

I still have my ‘96(made in Israel) DE .50 So much fun to shoot.

    Desert Eagle

I just replaced the Duncan ‘78 with the Duncan Alternative 8. Yowza. That’s the ticket. Despite being fairly “hot”, the Alternative 8 has really nice string-to-string definition. I’d call it slightly mid-scooped, but not so much where it sounds like there’s a hole in your eq.

    Vivian Campbell

Isn’t that his signature Les Paul?

    Desert Eagle

The LTD Desert Eagle I got, two months ago, is an excellent guitar. It arrived new in the box, and ready to play. Maybe I lucked out? I dunno. I have 3 of the LTD Lynch models, and all 3 are outstanding guitars.(Burnt Tiger, Kami 4, and the Desert Eagle) I found the Duncan ‘78 to be a hair too...

    Yngwie

“Rising Force” will always be on my list of inspiring “guitar-centric” albums. So many good memories about that album. We drove down to S.F. to see him, on his first solo tour, at the Kabuki Theater. It was f_cking epic.

Dio: Last in Line - 1984

We saw Dio, on those first two tours, at Cal Expo, in Sacramento. Great shows; Dio’s vocals, Vivian’s guitar playing, a couple of the Black Sabbath tunes. Whitesnake was the opening band for one of the shows. Sykes was a monster.
