    Framus Dragon: Opinions?

Cobra & Mark IV was what I thought they'd used on that, but it's been years since I read up on it. I remember seeing the live around that time, they had a cobra on one side and a mesa on the other, I can't recall which one Mark or Willy was playing. Shortly after that, when Ashes came out...

    Framus Dragon: Opinions?

I bought mine new after hearing KSE use them live, and it was my main live rig for the better part of 10 years. Something different than the 5150 & Mesa setups everyone had back then, and the clean channel was better. I've actually been thinking, I may try to use it with my current band. If it...

    Framus Dragon: Opinions?

I know they used them live, I think they may have played them on Palaces Burn. I actually cranked up my old Cobra the other day. Fingers crossed; I’ve mine since ‘04 with no issues.

Poll - Are you a better guitar player than,.....

Lots of folks can learn & recite Prince guitar parts. But when it comes the whole package writing, arranging, singing, choreographing, & showmanship, recording every instrument songs as a teenager that people still listen to almost 50 years later; few people will ever come close.

Do any of you guys still do this for rhythm tones???

I've experimented with it on & off over the years, pretty much exclusively when jamming at home. I've never been able to dial in that sound, in a way that I thought was particularly useful. Some of the Zakk Wylde live recordings from the 90's have a lot of it going on, and it worked quite well.

    Marshall! Marshall! Marshall!

Somehow I've convinced myself that the white & purple half stacks would make a matching set.

Enjoying some lower gain Strat tones today

For the longest time, I've only used lower gain sounds to for practicing & trying to keep my technique clean, on stuff I'd ultimately play with with the gain cranked. The past year or so though, I've really gotten to where I enjoy some of those sounds. A sign turning 40 maybe?!? Anyone else on...

Replacing caps in vintage amps, yay or nay?

I would consider whether you have or need access to a good amp tech into this equation. In many places, they're increasingly hard to find.

    I need to learn CAGED

Guthrie Trapp & Jack Ruch have some pretty good YouTube videos where they break that down in a way that’s simple & effective I think.

What guitar is currently in your hands, or was in them last?

Yes. I’ve wanted one for a long time, just never went out of my way to get one. Found this locally for a very reasonable price. I actually like the middle pickup that no one uses.

    Pedalboards and Mic Stands

I always used a tripod against the back right corner of my board, it was a pain in the ass though. I had rearrange my board layout so my left foot could get to the couple of pedals I actually needed while I was at the mic. This is the best photo I have.

How do you all jam along to backing tracks with your rig?

Mackie thump-go paired to my phone or laptop, turn it up loud enough to keep up with my amp.

What is your go to cab/speakers??

I’ve got four 2x12 cabs with v30’s, so I’d say that’s my go to… One I got from Splawn over 15 years ago, because the Eminence speakers I loved in my 4x12 for live use weren’t my favorite for recording. A Mesa vertical that was a package deal with my mark V, which I kept because it’s the...

Given that Charvels are better than Fenders.........

Yeah. A used American fender is a safe buy if you’re not sure a certain type of guitar works for you. They can always be resold without losing a ton. I’ve never played a new one I’d consider at their current pricing. Pretty much all the higher end copies are a better value for around the same...
