I like a .88 for pinch harmonics, especially on the higher strings. Something about it just sounds & feels a little more natural to me.
I like 1.14 mm for heavy rhythm chugging & fast lead playing. I can play pinch harmonics ok with those too.
Congrats!
I just got the last of our debt paid off earlier this year, it’s a feeling like no other. I splurged on a few gear purchases, but unfortunately most of the extra income goes toward adult priorities now.
I had one for years and was always really happy with the tones I got from it, which often got me compliments at shows. I mainly used it on the clean channel of my cobra; for chorus, delay, reverb & light OD, the midi interface was handy for channel switching too.
I sold it a few years after...
Sucks to hear, I probably saw them live a dozen times & they never failed to impress.
My old band rehearsed in the same spot they did down in Atlanta, around 10 years ago. We'd bump into them from time to time and they were always cool when we crossed paths.
I like them for recording song ideas & headphone practicing. If I scroll through presets, I can always find a tone that’s close enough and run with it.
This sums up my feelings pretty well.
I love being able to scroll through & find a preset, then get to work on whatever song idea I’m fumbling...
Realistically I need more. But if I had to choose, I could live with this one.
Probably swap to p/g to one with the volume knob moved out of the way a bit, it still gets in the way of palm muting sometimes.
My R7 came with an MCP t-wreck which has really grown on me. It’s pretty dark especially for clean tones, but the lead sound is just fantastic.
Unfortunately they don’t seem to offer them now & I can’t find much info on them.
Nice work. It definitely has that 81 bite. I don’t think it’s a bad thing though, this would sit perfectly in the right mix.
I’ve been playing my SL67 a lot lately & really loving the old THD hot plate to knock off a few dB.
Like some others have said. A bigger & punchier drum sound would help tremendously.
If you don’t have that, you’ll be fighting an uphill battle all day. To prevent them from getting buried, everything else has to be dialed back to compensate.
Usually a month or two before a show, I’ll try to listen to them a little less, if it’s something that I’ve been playing lately.
I enjoy seeing a band live & hearing them start into something I’ve not heard in a while.
