The 2/90/2 is pushing 90w out of only 2x KT88's and run at a higher plate voltage so it'd be quite different from the more common versions of the 4x KT88 UL power section.
Yeah I prefer the contour on max too. The lower settings might be useful for lead guys like Neil Zaza?
From your experience it definitely seems like Rick keeps tweaking the amp under the hood.
Yeah still have that one, it's a keeper for sure.
I like the amp but for my main tonal needs it just doesn't do anything the MC1 can't. Still good to have both though because more is more haha.
I bought a 100w MC1 a few years ago and really liked it. Always fancied a MC2 since I'm quite curious about what the contour control does. Having a master volume on channel 1 sounds useful too.
Got the chance to pick up this 2020 MC2 50 watter. Channel 1 is definitely a lot more usable than the...
I still use the Focus since the extra frequency range on the Standout were useless to me. Focus was the first time I actually liked a boost pedal. Since I already cherry picked my pickup/amp combinations, more mids or extra clipping are the last things I need. I just want to cut some lows.
No experience on the Avenger but I'd assume it's the same loop. The loop in original SLO and HR were buffered too. The issue lies in the position of the loop.
That's the issue for me. Once you start messing with body thickness and scale length it just becomes something else. IE a McCarty sounds nothing like an LP to me.
It can't. It has a solid state power amp and the little tube is between the pre and power amp (like the Vox VT combos) but they worded it in a way that it seems like the little tube is the power tube.
Do you even play guitar? Based on the tube types I have a feeling that you are a hifi dude who only registered to complain about the vendor since you found the post on google.
Yeah, silent stage is great when you're playing a stadium with massive PA. But in a 500 capacity pub you can never unhear the strange void in the middle of first couple rows.
