The company still exists and they are still selling tubes on Taobao (domestic Aliexpress basically) with a small price hike (much smaller than what you see from overseas resellers). Not entirely sure on the factory situation at the moment.
PSVANE supposedly have their own factory but I guess...

Here's the list of description of all older channel designs.
I remember asking about the Vega when I ordered my preamp and he recorded a Slayer clip for me. So I'd say it's enough for thrash metal.
Yeah I preferred the MG in my SLO100 since it’s just less gain but didn’t change the character too much. 5751 made the low end strangely hollow in mine.
They pimp these Indonesian guitars with too much expensive hardware nowadays. Sometimes you see one with Fishman pickups, Evertune bridge and locking tuners. That's $500 worth of hardware on an otherwise cheap guitar which definitely drives the price up a lot.
I have a Syn-1 and a few modules. My favourite so far is the Salvation Cameron module which I play a lot more than the Synergy modules.
I found a couple of the Synergy modules slightly redundant at their prices since the original manufacturer offered similarly priced tube preamps. For example a...
I'm curious whether video production shotgun mics would work for miking cabs at a distance. So you can get some room sound, but not too much reflection like you get from phone mics or omni mics. We have a few Rode NTG's at work and I might try it out on cabs.
If you want maple neck there's always the Gibson Tribute @ $1299

A muff type is easier to handle since it's fuzzy but almost distortion like (compared to a fuzz face or superfuzz). If you're going for EHX ones the Op Amp and the Green Russian are both cool for fast-ish sludge.
For clones or modded muffs from other manuacturers check out Black Arts LSTR or...
Melvins have been using Sunn Beta or its clones for years. Early Mastodon was basically distortion pedals into Marshalls, Torche was similar as well. Pallbearer was Orange with pedals I think?
Generally for those bands I think pedals play a bigger part than the amps so not a whole lot of point...
I've looked into it back when I had a Mesa 2:90 but lost interest after I sold the 2:90 for a Fryette 2/90/2. The new Synergy IICP module actually got me interested in the Studio preamp again. Picked one up for not much more than the module. The condition is a bit rough but it's all functional...
It's between the maple top and the mahogany body (instead of between two pieces of mahogany like earlier ones), not sure why they bother but it's pretty interesting nevertheless. Look into the pickup cavity it should be there.
