There's a Peters Pro Dual Channel up for sale and I'm thinking of picking it up. It has the Halo/Vega channels and listed as being from 2008. I've only recently discovered Peters amps. From what I've read so far the James has a great reputation and his amps are high quality. Unfortunately there's not a whole lot of good clips out there. What I've heard and small handfull of reviews I've read, overall they seem to have a tonal quality I like. And what I've listened to specifically of the Vega channel sounds like it's up my alley; hot rodded Marshall-ish.

My main questions... In general what can you tell me about Peter's amps? Does the Vega channel have enough gain to do 80's/90's thrash metal without a boost or does it start to tap out at hard rock? Not knowing their value, is $1300 a good price for one made around 2008?

My first act would be to message James himself. He is a good man and tells it like it is no matter what and stands behind his products no matter what.

Firejack has some awesome Peters clips . I was blown away by his

he's a member here. have not seen him in a long time though. He was offering tweaks on his amps at one time if you wanted something different. nothing but stellar reviews and superb build quality as far as I can remember.was even making pups at one time also.

Thanks for the feedback. I like the overall vibe of everything I've heard, but I don't think this is the right Peters for me. This one may not have enough gain without a boost for my taste. I don't want to make an impulse buy so I'm gonna hold off for now. I have enough money tied up in some recent amp purchases anyway. I think it'll be best to later on consult the man himself and have one built that's more in line to what I'd want.

No bullshit, just contact James. He is an honest man and will tell you what he thinks.

Here's the list of description of all older channel designs.

I remember asking about the Vega when I ordered my preamp and he recorded a Slayer clip for me. So I'd say it's enough for thrash metal.
I read those descriptions the other day. The Vega being described as aggressive medium gain had me thinking it may not be enough for what I would want. If he did Slayer with it then I may have to take another look.

I've heard nothing but good things bout his customer service. Though I didn't want to waste his time asking about a used amp I wasn't purchasing from him. But I think I'll send him a message considering godgrinder's comment about Slayer on the Vega

I had a Peters Gryphon for a while. Ripping amp, with fantastic build quality - definitely worth checking out.

I owned a Bodyhammer and it was a fantastic amp for thrash and heavier stuff. It was one amp that I could have played without a boost if I had to, but liked it boosted a bit more. Very high build quality.

I found a decent clip of the Vega channel doing thrash without a boost and an old post from Mr. Peters saying it was well suited for 80's Rock/Metal. I thought about it a little more, said fuckit, and went ahead and bought it. Now I just have to wait for it to be shipped. Should be having a NAD soon though. Well 2 actually since I'm the one buying JerEvil's Gemini :D
