one of the lightest cabs I ever pickup is DV Mark GH, 13,4 kg/29,5 pounds. There is something in mids with the neodymium speakers but easy to combine with something heavier in mids. Jensen Tornado Stealth 65 is fullest sounding neo from my experince.
I was intrested how the DV neoclassical...
Find the right SG is always struggle. They differ quite a lot in different eras. I had '77, Tarbacks, this was the great sounding one. But neck is not for everyone, very very narrow about 40.5mm ( 1 ¹⁹/₃₂, 1,59 inch). Harmonica bridge is also another thing which is hard to replace. Soundwise it...
I have no complaint about volume with Helios but it has very different swell than most amps. It is about 97dB at the half of the volume pot and it rise quite significantly about 2-3 o'clock, opposite of for example 2204 where it all happen 1-4 and the it became second gain knob :) This is apply...
Marshall BX sound like a joke beside something like Bogner or Friedman. The bottom end is very loose and flubby. BV will be better fit for JVM but not so much for Suhr. Handwired cabs are better compromise for both amp. But still I take Bogner or Friedman with V30/GB25 combo. Glued-in front...
Cheapest ones at SW are 3.299$ so no imports. There was an Rasmus (China built, US QC) attemp but failed on quality issues per Suhr. I had one and it doesn't sound but there was not close to real Suhr, feel like indonesian Ibanez.
Moderns are imho pinnacle of superstrats, perfect fit body...
I had original one and Mercury. Very stiff feeling and harsh sounding with none of the sponginess and bloom of mediocre tube amp. On the paper and from vids looks good but no miracles happened and overpriced for what it is. Friedman IR-X + Duncan 170 is much better if portability is important.
not great, not terrible :) I like the sound but they feel very stiff. Mrshall should make smaller 50 with options of DSL40CR.
Wizard story is intresting and I see will be hard to swallow for some but like Mustaine sings ...mids sells or whatever :)
most Diezels, esp. Hagen and VH4 and the most of the 3-4 channel multi machines no matter what brand...
EVH 50W, Marshall JVM, Jubilees , Engl Invader, JSX. Those amp has very flat and generic sounding midrange and I just hate to play them.
For the heavier styles 498T works better, '57 Classic are little bit mid-heavy an weak. I got 2013 SG yesterday and there is Angus Young pickup and it works great, more bite than '57 and more clarity than 498T. Also Burstbucker 2 work in SG, little bit more push than usual PAF pickup.
You should ask before order... lol.
Painkiller is suited for lower tuning because it doesn't have too much bottom end and treble are on the brighter spectrum. It is little cleaner but thinner sounding than SH-6. Also depends hot much bass has Your Eclipse. Buddy of mine has non FT one and it is...
muddy and harsh at the same time, weird mids, personally don't understand the apeal of Jubilees. Old 2554 is good because Drake trannies and without diode clipping it is very JCM800-ish. 2555X are very cheap in EU but still I will choose cheaper DSL or JCM900.
The price analysis are quite a funny, especially here on Rig-talk, where biggest hits are modded Marshall clones for 5000$ or 10k boogies :)
I had a Sky king from Bartel era and it is an excellent amp. Very spacey, deep clean sound, fantastic reverb and tremolo. Sounds big for a 1x12 combo...
Any lower RG will not feel the same as 450-500-700 series from Japan. It is about neck shape and finish and of course Edge trem. Wizard II or III has weird shapes and they are too glossy/sticky or raw/unfinished.
BKP Holy diver it is. Less mud and less typical upper mid mess which is JB known for. Works great for hotroded strats. I have BKP Rebel Yell in Charvel and it is 80's rock/metal machine.
No experience with Pepetual burn but the spec are in hotter PAF territory. Something like DM Norton, versatile, even, 'works in most guitars' type of pickup.
BKP RY has bigger output, very specific midrange clarity of lower output PAF pickups and works better in darker/bass heavier guitars. I...
