I had this amp back in the day. Always felt the G160xl sounded a little better though. Had that amp too. Had both and the Ampeg SS-150. That was a good sounding Solid State head too.
Cool man...I have to do some tube rolling in my EVH combo. I think these type amps really do respond well to different preamp tubes in different spots. I've had other amps in the past that don't matter too much when ya swap tubes. I know my EVH has all JJs in her, but I have a ton of vintage...
I get those Fatbottom cabs sound excellent. That's one cab I probably shoulda kept. I had the VHT fatbottom 2x12. It was light, Easy to move around and looked great. Paired it with a Carvin Legacy head, which worked well cuz the Legacy was kinda dark, and the front loaded VHT cab made it...
Still matters to me. Only for this; I'm not some snob who won't play an Indonesia made guitar, BUT, I'm not gonna pay top dollar for one when I can find a used MIJ or something that I like just as much for similar pricing.
A guy by me is selling his American Virtuoso Sea Foam for $1500. I think they are $1999 new. Looks kinda cool, and I dig the unfinished neck. Is the 1500 series any good?
Cool...I have the Eurotubes Bias Probe, so as long as I see the r171 blue bias adjustment I can just plug in the 6L6 probe and adjust to milliamps with a plastic or wood flathead.
Before taking the chassis out, was wondering if there is an adjustable internal bias point, or if it's fixed? Wasn't quite sure. I have the 2x12 combo.
I used Gravity picks for quite awhile, but for the past year I really like the snap of the Dunlop Medium Gels(purple ones). They are cheap and have this bite to them.
I moved From CA to FL start of 2021, then returned to CA in end of 2023. Both times we used 1-800-Pack Rat. It was smooth both times. I had all three of my guitars, keyboards, and amp(returning), studio monitors, record collection in the container. Limited space in the 4runner with 4 of us...
I kinda wonder what Michael Wagener was hearing when he mixed this Big Game? He has an awesome resume and done excellent on many many albums. I have two pressings of Big Game on vinyl and I have to turn the highs down A LOT compared to any other record I have. The highs are just cranked...
