You can't compare playing thru a head/cab/combo to playing thru headphones on a modeler.
I run my Quad Cortex through a Powerstage 170 to a Marshall 4x12 and it sounds massive. I could alternatively run my QC to two Positive Grid powered FRFRs for a stereo set up. Or I can run my QC into my...
My experience in the military was everyone fighting for slots by throwing others under the bus, SNCOs looking for any/all reasons for article 15s, lackluster training and almost constant SHARP awareness training because jarheads literally can't stop themselves from raping. I'll never suggest...
I've tried way too many Bare Knuckle Pickups. They all have a distinct mid-range push, which is something I simply cannot do without. I haven't played a single set from them that I don't like from classic style Tele sets to modern high gain balls-to-the-wall. I cannot find a set that sounds bad...
I've used Higgins on multiple boards. It works great. I've never used it on a fretted board though. I've used it on boards I've refretted and reprofiled the radius so YMMV.
My process:
Clean board with Acetone and/or Mineral Spirits.
Heavy coat with a shop paper towel for full coverage and...
Dan Swano - The Godfather of Swedish Death Metal.
Vai - awakened a sexual energy in my guitar playing
Mikael Akerfeldt - Makes me brain hurt
Jesper Stromblad & Bjorn Gelotte - The reason I play melodic death metal
Casey Crescenzo - The reason I wish I didn't get into metal and did indie rock...
It sounds and looks great! I'd say grab another neck so you can have two killer guitars. Do you have those captures on your Cortex Cloud? I'd love to check them out on my QC.
I'm currently developing and will soon be launching a small pedal company. My first entry will be a clean boost. Unity is somewhere around 10 O'Clock and full balls to the wall really spanks a clean amp or cleans up and tightens high gain. One knob, one solution. Works similar to how a Fortin 33...
Yeah we need details on this service. $158 for a Quad of Tung-Sol 6L6GC's, that eats into a lot of the cost. $342 for popping in tubes and cleaning pots seems criminal to me. I charge $50 for a tube install and bias, that includes cleaning of the sockets, if I have the amp open I charge $20 to...
Old rockers in my area would always tell stories about Larry coming around to all the local shops begging people to try out his pickups, begging people working behind the counter to check them out.. A lot of them would flat out tell him no, or that they had and they sucked. Out of the dozens of...
Mesa would be the only solution. Many IIC+'s have the III faceplate and is "technically" the correct faceplate. Mesa ran out and did not have more of the II faceplates. I had a SRG IIC+ with a III faceplate and a H IIC that I sent to be upgraded to a HG IIC+ in 2022ish that had a III faceplate...
I like the old toothpaste logo Charvels. I wish they would do some guitars with the Jackson headstock and style logo. The strat headstock always rubs me the wrong way on Charvels.. That being said I want one of those relic San Dimas.
Plastidip refin I did on this one. Peeled it off when I...
I'm a Tone Zone convert. A lot of online reviews say the Tone Zone is dark, but I actually find it a bit brighter and punchier than a JB. JB sounds like a muddy mess to me. I bought a RG652AHM with a Tone Zone and hated it. I went through 3 sets of pickups before I realized the guitar was just a...
I have a spreadsheet with all the gear I have and previously had. I used to keep a section for pickups with brief descriptions of what I liked or hated. It got too massive, now it's just a Go/No-Go sheet for the pickups. Tried out the same pickups multiple times as they came with different...
He sold it and then bought it back. :ROFLMAO: He won't get rid of it again
I'm tempted to offer something for it, but I'm on the look out for an explorer with a broken headstock so I can fix it then rat rod the hell out of it.
Just worked on a buddies Gothic Explorer, the bridge measured right around where a 498 should. He was curious because he's hated 498's in every Gibson he's owned, but loved whatever was in the Gothic Explorer. Weird. Gothics rip ridiculously hard.
If you want the fattest/beefiest Explorer, look for Mahogany bodied ones with Rosewood boards. They're thick sounding and stock pickups work for rock and heavy metal. If you want to play tight thrash or death metal, you'll need some aggressive pickups for it. The Korina ones, while people say...
2 Peterson StroboPlus HD's - 1 at work - 1 in workshop
2 Peterson StroboStomp HD - 1 for my rigs 1 backup floating around somewhere.
They're crazy accurate, but more importantly they're extremely easy to read.
One of my fav Ozzy songs is off that record. Tattooed Dancer. It's got the perfect blend of Ozzy being Ozzy, Randy type riffs and that gnarly snarl and pinch harmonics Zakk has. I could listen to this song 10 times in a row and be pumped up the whole time.
