Has anyone else tried or owned one of these, and can chime in on their findings for tweaking for a more raw/brighter sound?
I am a fairly new owner, and prefer raw/brighter sounds vs typical Friedman smooth refined sounds. So when I got this, I figured it was going to sound too dark for my...
Ok, took this beast for a spin and boy does she spit fire when boosted. I find unboosted is refined, typical with Friedman voicings. But I like it a bit more edgy and raw sounding so boosted it and it just hit right once i tweaked the dials on the amp to support the presence from the BOSS SD-1.
Alright so I decided to finally try and see what the lead channel with amp lead boost "OFF" and "ON" sounded like along with BOSS SD-1. Details of settings on the BOSS are in description in youtube link.
Pretty cool results in my opinion, I think I still like it best with lead channel boost...
So I have had my MC II for about 4 years now approx, and I have to admit I normally play straight in. I decided to give it a go and truly unbiased expectations give some good experimentation. I found level at 3' o clock to full on, 0 dist, tone at 11 o clock was great. It tightened the low...
Let's get some love for this amazing amp! I see this amp as a 1 channel high gain modded 800 by Reinhold. Just incredible perfect Marshall jose mod tones.
So I made a little vid trying to demonstrate what it sounds like when you 'dime' the contour knob on the MC II, which takes the negative feedback upper mid shelving OUT of the circuit and makes it like the MC I "brighter/more raw", very minimal diff in sound but noticeable in person nonetheless...
Just wanted to share, contour knob being max'd and taken out of circuit vs at 3 o 'clock through vid. Easier to try and make a vid to show differences in sound versus explain it.
Reunited with the great beast of an amp, I used to own one of these years ago and sold it, then found another one used and remember now why it was a mistake to sell in the first place lol
The silly things we do!
