Someone asked if I could do a NAM clip of my 5150 Block Letter and mentioned Killswitch/AILD/Chimaira type tones, so I figured I'd dig up one of my bands old demos and dust it off.
No tubescreamer here, just DI->amp model->IR. 5150 was just THE amp for this kind of sound.
I was sort of under the impression these were the same amps, with the Bi-Chorus having a stereo power amp, 2 fx loops, and the chorus circuits.
I currently have an 8100, 8200 and 8080 combo here in my studio. The 8200 sounds a bit bassier/warmer over all and a bit less aggressive. You’d...
Just for fun really, slapped this together pretty quick with 6 different amps involved here:
- Bogner Uberschall Rev Green
- Dual Rectifier Rev G
- Modded 1987x (Friedman JEL sort of thing with a ton of extras)
- 5150 Block Letter
- Friedman BE100
- Krank Revolution Series 1
Used the same IR...
a rev green Uber appeared on eBay here which NEVER happens in the UK. had to pounce and got lucky, its an amp I've dreamed of owning for 20 years. absolute monster of an amp, everything I hoped it would be. Its a bit more "caveman" than the new Uber Ultra (which seems killer too), but for THE...
Sort of have a love/hate thing with Diezel, there’s something unique and intriguing about their amps but I had a Herbert and didn’t really like it THAT much.
I’m still curious about the VH4, even though I expect my issues to be much the same. That said, keen to hear the best tones everyone can...
1987x modded to something like a Friedman JEL gain channel (following Headfirsts mods). I had a few extras/customisations that really make this amp it’s own thing.
The extra switches are:
- Coupling cap between 0.022uF and 0.0022uF (one is fatter, one is tighter)
- "Gain Boost" takes out an...
2 new releases - ToneX Preset packs for a Marshall Jubilee 50W and Krank Revolution Series 1. Both amps captured direct and the presets include various IR's from my collection. The beauty of direct tone models is you can mix and match with any IR you like for unlimited flexibility...
My buddy Piotrek made a quick clip with the Rengob IR's using the Helix Mark IV (I guess dialled in to sound like his real Mark III). Love how aggressive this sounds.
These IR's are from a V30 4x12 Bogner cab from 2000, its a 1960B style enclosure with the insulation inside the cab. Really...

Just released this new pack. Marshall 1960A cabinet with 1984 16 ohm vented T75 speakers. All 4 speakers captured across the horizontal width...
I should preface that I'm a huge fan of the SLO-100, both in the design, quality of the build/attention to detail and the tones it produces. Awesome to play as well.
Just curious what everyone thinks are the best recorded examples of it? The only one that comes to mind for me is this:
I just...
A 2nd pack for IK Multimedia's profiling software. This pack exclusively contains direct models, with my own choices for a matching IR. Of course, the benefit of amp only models is you can use any IR (or even Amplitube’s VIR module) to fine tune the tone to whatever you like.
The pack contains...
Just curious to understand the ENGL sound a little better and trying to find some great sounding recordings of them. I’ve had the Mark 1 versions of Savage, Powerball and Fireball in the studio so I’m somewhat familiar with those but it would still be cool to hear some killer sounding examples...
I just uploaded my first commercial ToneX bundle. It's pretty new tech but its very impressive in its accuracy - the drawbacks are the slow training times and the fact the included captures don't have any direct models at all. There are a lot of great free captures available on their ToneNet...
Thought I'd celebrate this sub forum opening by offering you guys a discount. This forum has been really awesome in helping getting my feet off the ground - the response and enthusiasm has been genuinely awesome and this was the first forum to really stumble onto my IR's and post about them...
HI guys!
Thanks for checking out the sub forum, hopefully this is a cool place to post clips and discuss things related to the digital products I make. I'm also around to answer questions about anything and to try and help you get the most out of them.

Found one for sale at a killer price so had to jump on it. Seller says it’s been serviced recently but wasn’t quite putting out 120W. Still has the original filter caps (which looked like shitty Illinois branded ones) so I’m thinking they’ll be the culprit. Figuring i’ll get my tech to recap and...
Not the prettiest lead dress I’ve ever seen, but it’s about as original as I’ve seen for some time. Sounds killer (lots of gain) and surprisingly quiet noises. Original Marshall stamped long plate preamp valves in there, not sure what the score is on the power amp valves (TEONEX is something...
Bit of a nerdy test. Apologies that its so dull!
Compared how the power amp of my 2 channel Dual Rectifier (early Rev G) responds with different loads. In each graph, it shows the frequency graph of a Mesa OS 4x12 with 8 Ohm V30's compared to various load boxes. I suspect this will vary with...
Plugged the old Mark III in today, such a fun amp to play and dial sounds in on. Defo one of my favourites:
Made a (direct) Kemper profile of it if anyone wants (just PM me). Also dialled in some similar tones with some modellers, happy to share those too if anyone wants.
