Should Krull be banned off the forum?

Whomever is responsible for moderating the site these days: you are literally killing what’s left of your community by allowing this thread (and others like it) to continue. When you sort by most active, this is the first thing people see. Complete dumpster fire.

Guitar Comparison - Closer than you think.

I think you're generally correct that the order makes a difference. But, also, I think that PRS just happens to sound dull and muddy. Click back and forth between the Les Paul and the PRS without the strat in the middle and you'll see the strat isn't coloring your perception as much as you might...

Guitar Comparison - Closer than you think.

Hold on, folks - that RR is a BOLT-ON! Impossible to draw any conclusions now about all guitars sounding similar regardless of their shape, pickups, or construction, which was the point the OP was making! Burn the video! OP - very cool video. Thank you.

    Why so much spam?

I have my rigtalk bookmarked on “active topics” in order to always see the latest conversations. But increasingly, the active conversations are spam - dozens of posts in a row about shoes, or dozens of posts in a row about Russian dating, etc., etc., etc. Practically every morning there’s a new...

    FT: 28 Guitars

Out of curiosity, do you have any “keepers” in your collection, or are all of your guitars always available for sale or trade? What are you searching for in a guitar at this point that you haven’t already found?

    Mayones

A few of mine. Huge Mayo fan. I've yet to find a dud. Up top is a 7-string Hydra, bottom left and right are Duvell MBCs.

NGD: Mayones lefty (updated w/ metal vid)

Their listed prices do include VAT, which gets removed if they ship to the US. They charge ~100 pounds to ship to the US. I took mine back on the plane with me when I returned from the UK (no tax or wood problems), but I, too, would like to hear from the OP if he experienced any shipping issues...

NGD: Mayones lefty (updated w/ metal vid)

Backwards but beautiful! ;-) Congrats! Looks like you live in Texas? Out of curiosity, why did you end up ordering through GuitarGuitar? I live in California, but travel to London frequently on business, and I bought a Mayo Duvell from them (Camden location) last year. Love that place. They...

    SD Nazgul vs. BK Painkiller

I haven’t tried a Painkiller, but do have two Duvells with Nazguls. I play hard rock and old-school metal, typically in standard tuning, occasionally in drop D. I personally like that pickup in those two guitars. I do EQ my amps a little differently when I play them vs. some of my other...

My HEAVY Gibson Rant! Added more pics of the guitar

My 2016 HP model came in one of these, and I assumed it was just for HP models. But perhaps not? The case does a fine job of protecting the guitar, but it's definitely heavy and prone to external dents and superficial scratches.

What's your favorite pick Nylon, Ultex, Acrylic, Tortex ?

I'm in London on business and was lucky enough to see Andy James do a clinic a couple of weeks ago at guitarguitar in Camden. Afterward, he was selling boxes of his branded picks, and I bought some. I LOVE these things, which sucks because Dunlop isn't making more of them! I think they're...

Got a TronicalTune Plus system for a Tele build I'm Doing...

I have one of these in a 2016 High Performance Les Paul and really enjoy it. Takes a little getting used to, and it's easy to forget how to use many of its features if you aren't using them regularly due to its wonky UI, but overall it's a really nice system that works well and makes tuning...

    List Your Unpopular Musical Opinions

Gibson's 2016/17 Les Paul Standard High Performance, with its shaved neck heel, titanium upgrades, and "robot tuners", is the best Les Paul that Gibson has ever made.

Guitar luthier in the Bay Area/East Bay

To hijack the thread ever so slightly while the OP hasn't yet responded about what he's specifically looking for - how about SS refrets? Everyone I've spoken to in Oakland and SF wants $700+. Been a while since I had a refret, but holy cow, that's way more than it used to be.

What, that gaudy green guitar??? ;-) Thanks! I've owned it for years. One of my all-time favorites.

    List Your Unpopular Musical Opinions

Thanks! That makes sense. I see an awesomely figured top and think "beautiful piece of wood", you see it and think "furniture", possibly because you saw figured furniture growing up before you saw figured guitars. Moreover, you love old cars, so metallic paint on a guitar recalls hotrods for...

    List Your Unpopular Musical Opinions

I know this is a judgement-free zone (  ) so I'm not judging, but can one of you go into a little more detail on this opinion? I mean, I understand not liking veneer, but what's so gaudy about a pretty piece of real wood on a wooden instrument? I love figuring because I find it...

    Any Washburn N4 fans here?

Yup, definitely a fan here. I own this one. I believe it's a 2011, and it's fantastic. It is, however, a custom shop, and I don't know how they differ from standard USA models.

    Mayones Regius 6. Thoughts?

You've got good taste! Haha. One thing I can say, definitively, about the two guitars: The Regius (at least mine) has relatively small frets. They are described as "jumbo" on the spec sheet, but the frets on my PRS Custom 24 Floyd, which I believe has DGT-sized frets - same as the Halcomb - are...
