Question about setting up a Floyd Rose

Check the inside of the saddles too, if they have any grooves or wear new inserts probably won't help much. I encountered the same problem on a Jackson branded FR years ago, the saddles were garbage.

Current 12AX7's: Clear, Low Noise: Go...

I believe you can ID the earlier 5881s by their "stapled" plates. The later Sovteks have welded plates if I'm not mistaken. I think the print is slightly different too but I don't have any of the later ones on hand at the moment to confirm.

    Fryette Power Station opinions

I like my PS-100, but I think that anytime you add something to your chain there's bound to be some compromise.

Fryette hiked price on PS-100 by $200

I just bought one about a month ago. Still worth the price of admission but I'm glad I grabbed one.

Anyone here from the early days ??

I don't post very often but I just checked and I've been here since 9/19/06. Never would have guessed it's been that long.

    Floyd Rose question?

Simple, it's not in tune. When you attempt to tune your E and D strings to standard pitch the A will go flat. The string tension has to be balanced with the springs. Anytime you change pitch on a string it will impact the others.

2008 SOLDANO SLO 100 MK1 - noisy mains transformer and another surprise

I have an '02, it has a little mechanical hum from the transformers, it's always been that way. I suspect it's more noticeable when you have an open headshell like Soldanos, as opposed to a shell that has far less venting.

    I hate setting up....

All the handwringing over FRs. Once you spend some time with one they're really not that difficult. The tuning stability far outweighs the little extra effort during set up.

    Stacking a stack?

I had a head fall off stacked 4x12s. Not pretty. Two side x side is the way to go.

Roger Waters recorded DSOTM again by himself

I saw his 'Wall' tour which was, from a production standpoint, really amazing. But that guy has a screw loose. Maybe multiple screws. Hard pass.

    Let's See Your Band Live...

I typically like heavier music but I co-founded this band in '97 and it evolved into a successful 20 year run, and much more fun than I would've ever imagined. This one definitely made the most $$$ but I've suffered some abuse for the material.😆

Ever Seen This??? - Old Marshall 4x12

What would possess someone to do that? I wouldn't be able to remove that crap fast enough.

Talk to me about compound radius fingerboards

Denny Rauen, a well known luthier from Milwaukee, is supposedly the guy who introduced compound radius boards.

    RIP Jeff Beck

Damn. It was just a few days ago I was talking about the JB show I had the fortune to attend, probably 20 or so years ago. Fantastic show and memory.

    70’s Marshall 1959?

Mine is in fair shape. The shell is in great condition, it was slightly modded at some point with a master and EL34 conversion. That, and some schmuck drilled an extra hole in the back of the chassis for whatever reason.

Craigslist deal of the day, some kid will buy this.

Well, at least he's considered the welfare of the flooring underneath it.

    70’s Marshall 1959?

Sight unseen and equal condition etc., I'd opt for the '72. It has turret board construction and is probably more desirable from a collector standpoint. If I could play/hear them back to back I may change my mind. I haven't kept pace with current pricing. I have a decent '76 myself but...

    PANTERA soundcheck!

I doubt anyone expected a Dime clone out of Zakk, but I had the expectation of something a bit more authentic.

Fryette customer service sucks dog dicks for quarters.

That definitely isn't a ringing endorsement. I was really close to pulling the trigger on a PS, think I'll hold off for a minute to see how it shakes out..
