I've never had much of an issue with the weight...wide straps generally takes care of that, but the sitting is annoying (and entirely my own poor technique lol) .. the fat ass of them makes the neck lean down so compensating for that tends to kink my back. I should really just sit it on my left...
I use to love them 30 years ago..then hated them for the longest time and now I love them again .... although I hate sitting down with them. Gotta stand and play them
it this point it is a no brainer ..YES .... I mean they released a whole lot of pre amp pedals a namm (no IR's mind you). I was surprised they didn't do a 6505 then
the J100 are ok if you want a vintagey strat thing, but depending on whats in the bridge they will lack a bit of punch..... my go to with Alder is either Quarter Pounds or Dimarzio sds1s
not sure if it is a mental thing with me but I have never liked tall frets .... I have put tall ones in but it just isn't the same as a scalloped board
another "advantage" is it takes a bit of "strain" off your fingers so as you age. The fact it isn't possible to push hard for me helps as my fingers are starting to hurt a bit (from work not guitar playing) ... I have found that if I am playing a normal fretboard I start getting pain so I switch...
I switch between scallop and normal all the time, even between songs... been playing scalloped for over 20 years so you get use to different feels and it becomes second nature switching
I have about 20 ... play 4 regularly then all the others get picked up and played maybe once a month, just to see how different they feel/sound ... I just like seeing lots of guitars on stands in my music room... every few months I get that itch to get another one. At this stage I am only going...
yeah I never really liked les pauls but recently wanted one with a floyd so got one and now I have a custom as well that has fast become my got to guitar ... it's cool how tastes continue to change even after nearly 40 years of playing
I think part of it might be the shorter scale as my hands...
Always loved the growling thing on Warlocks "all we are" from I think Tommy Bolan ... When I first heard Jeff Beck do it I was blown away by the sound of it, then seeing it done in this song pretty much made me want to learn how to do it as a beginner player in 1987. Don't do it much anymore but...
My playing pretty much consists of noodling on a guitar while watching TV after every night. So I probably play for 2 hours a night 7 days a week. Then if I can be bothered I will turn on an amp and play a bit on the weekends.
None of this is good practice but at least it keeps my fingers...
