If so what did you have done? Mine is in the shop right now (for service and updates) and I'm considering a SAT switch as mine doesn't have one. If it adds any kind of saturation to the gain, that would be sweet. I don't think I need or want the S switch to reduce gain levels though.
Have my PT20 packed and ready to go back to Friedman for service and updates. Just wondering what you guys would recommend for shipping. I'm in NY and the best rate I'm getting is from USPS.
Thoughts?
Thanks.
Dave
What are you guys using in your PT-20s? I have an early version with no switches and the red board. I recently re-tubed because of what turned out to be a bad pre in V3 (PI).
I bought it used and it came with JJs in the power section and ARS in the pre slots. The PI was going bad and causing...
Hey all,
I have a PT-20 that I bought used about 2 1/2 years ago. Today I noticed that after 15 minutes or so of playing, the amp start making noise all of sudden. Basically hiss. Sounded like white noise. I turned off the amp and turn it right back. Noise was gone and then re-appeared...
Hey all,
On one of my Suhrs, I have a set of EB Slinky 9-46, tuned to E, that feel looser than I would expect. By comparison, I have a Kiesel Bolt tuned to Eb with 9s that feel the same or even a little tighter than the EB Slinky set.
Was wondering if any of you could recommend a brand or...
When I started playing in '78 at the age of 12, I remember getting a spiral bound catalog in the mail. I think it had a plain yellow cover and black and white pages. But I would stare at the Gibsons and Marshalls in it for hours.
Does anyone remember a catalog like that? And if so, what was...
I bought it back in 2013 and made a few short clips. Then for shits and grins I re-installed it over the weekend and had a blast playing for 2 days over various EZ Drummer beats. It really does sound good. Good effects, nice interface and it just sounds fun and inspiring.

A few months ago I bought a 2000 Marshall JCM 2000. It needed a cap job and some TLC. I was "solder-shamed" on this forum so I man-ed-up, did some reading and research and got busy. It ended up being so much fun and such a cool learning experience. First I changed all the caps on the main...
Before I start I want to point out that I've never worked on amps before. I'm a pretty "handy" guy and have built a solid body electric from scratch that I've been playing every day for 11 years now. I also do carpentry as a hobby and household electrical work as well. But amps always scared...
Hey guys,
I've got my DSL on the bench and while I'm chasing down some intermittent static, I want to make some changes based on stuff I've been reading. For example, a common mod/fix is to replace C46 in the DSL. The stock capacitor is a ceramic disc rated at 22pF and 500V. The...
And by that I mean, authentic: Low to mid output, A2 magnet etc. I know that limits things but get as close as you can. This is going into my new Kiesel...
I found a highly reputable tech in my area and am considering having him change the caps in my Marshall. The more I read about it though, I feel like taking a shot at it myself. I've built a guitar from scratch, cabinets, made cables, wired up pickups, etc. I'm also confident I can work...
Hey guys,
I want to put together a small board for my JCM 2000 and Pink Taco. I want to run everything in front. What's a good delay that excels in front of the amp? I'm thinking about the Carbon Copy or maybe the new Boss Waza delay.
Thanks.

I finally got this thing together and I was shocked that all of my cables, patch, power, amp function and midi, worked the first time out. Even the patch-box I made works. The Musicomlab 62M is great too. Controls my amp, MIDI pedals and of course, the stomps.
I was looking at the Friedman site today. Especially the section detailing his modifications. Does anyone know if there is a specific set of amps he can perform those mods on? I know Rez just had one done. So for instance, if I picked up an 800, 900, DSL 2000, JVM or even a Splawn, could...
