I've not owned a guitar with a blank board I don't think. I have had a couple guitars that might as well have had no inlays, being that they were so hard to see. But I agree with the sentiment that side markers are the important ones.
If I'm playing slide, I don't really want a radius much flatter than 12. if not, I can go pretty flat. Scale lengths I'm happy with anything "standard", others I don't really have opinions on.
