I got my hands on a like new one. Arrived Friday!
I do dial then in very similar, but in the room it's head and shoulder above any Friedman and way more clarity than the Slo or a Wizard.Sounds like all your other amps
Ummm….what in the world are you talking about? Sorry but Wizards reign supreme in the clarity dept. not close. I’m not trying to be a turd I’m just blown away by that comment!I do dial then in very similar, but in the room it's head and shoulder above any Friedman and way more clarity than the Slo or a Wizard.
A Wizard has a lot more gain but not the note clarity.
This is a special amp! So many useable tones too
Wizards are killer amps, no doubt. I own a MCII and MTL. I had a Friedman Jose for 3 days.Ummm….what in the world are you talking about? Sorry but Wizards reign supreme in the clarity dept. not close. I’m not trying to be a turd I’m just blown away by that comment!

1000% yes!!Sounds great! Is this your favorite Friedman?
Not at all, how many have you owned or played thru? Actually that does not matter at all because this one is sooooo differentI hear a typical Friedman response. No midrange. Fatiguing treble without having any presence.
Your SLO smokes this.
+1 the Jose doesn't suffer from treble fatigue. I have a B.A.D. SLO 100, which I love. They're 2 completely different amps. Not at all, how many have you owned or played thru? Actually that does not matter at all because this one is sooooo different
There is zero treble fatigue and the presence in vintage mode actually brings out the mids and is super useful. NEVER owned an amp where I turned the presence up past noon like this one
For certain things I will use the Slo still, but the note clarity is night and day. You may or may not be familiar with the reality that with a ton of gain on tap you lose note clarity. With this Friedman is has actual mid crack like no other Friedman I've owned

BE deluxe
SB
PT 1and 2 (which did but has a harsh top end)
JEL's -ch 1 does 2 is flub city
All I can tell you is try one and don't trust what your hearing on YT
I'll have to research the amp more. The only things I'm interested in right now is The Jose, JEL 50 or SLO.Not at all, how many have you owned or played thru? Actually that does not matter at all because this one is sooooo different

I agree, hearing a comment like that makes me think OP has some undiagnosed issue with their ears. It has struck me as odd as someone who is on the younger side of the median of a group like this, that the old guys with the top end hearing loss play their amps with so little high end. If its going to hurt anyone, it's going to hurt me.That is an interesting comment. I just moved this summer and maybe it's because I'm now playing in a basement with carpet and concrete walls, but I will often have my presence at 8 and my treble at 7.5 on my BE50. I didn't do this prior to moving where we had wood flooring, so maybe that has something to do with it. This is the context of using a Pegasus humbucker, which is tight, yet a little dark in the high end. For a Strat with single coils, I will lower the presence a bit though, to maybe 6 or 7. I even have the bias set at 38 for extra juiciness. In contrast to the old DSL100 I used to own, I would rarely turn the presence up past 5 on that amp.
I would love to hear the Jose and how it responds with the two presence types (I can tell vintage would probably be my thing). People say it has less gain than the BE, but sounds to me like it has plenty of gain in all the videos.
