Love the Polymath set. Have them in my CE22 in drop C and it’s one of the best sounding guitars I’ve had to date. Getting a set of Polypafs for a CE24 soon. Looking forward to those.
I’ve got a CE22 loaded with Polymaths and a PRS Baritone with Silos. While the two aren’t worlds apart, the Silo edges out in the low and low-mid frequencies. That said, the Polymath neck is one of the best BKPs I’ve played, and overall, the feel on the Polymath set is a touch better. Also split...
I previously had a Mesa 2x12 horizontal cabinet and later switched to a Port City OS horizontal 2x12. The Port City is a significant improvement. You won’t regret the change. In my experience, they fill the room better and are less directional.
Before COVID, EBMM guitar prices were reasonable, and you could often negotiate a significant discount at a dealer if you had cash. Spending $4,000-$5,000 on a John Petrucci model now seems excessive, so I've turned to the used market. I've never paid more than $2,700 for a new JP, and that was...
I only have experience with the G8 but I got one because the built in gate on the Revv amps was so good. Worked really well with any amp I tried it with. I didn’t notice it taking anything away from the tone, you can dial it in to cut off naturally too.
I do like that comparison. Remember years back hearing it and ordering the JP2C when it came out. If you don’t care about the shared channels and one 5 band eq, the IV lead channel smokes the JP2C imo.
The JP2C is still a killer amp but the third channel on the VII sounded really good. It...
Currently have Polymaths in a PRS CE and Silos in a PRS baritone. Worth the dough imo and both sets offer a different vibe. Juggernauts are great. I like the ceramic Black Hawk (had those in an Ibanez 121). The Ragnarok bridge is badass but the neck pickup was not for me. Impulse set is very...
Don’t sell the IV. I made that mistake once, found another one and also grabbed an FM3 recently. Fractal is the way to go imo. The effects are phenomenal so even if the amp modeling doesn’t do it for you running 4CM with your IV would be worth the effort.
Maybe talk him down a little and throw the money at it. They’re awesome amps and have their reputation for a good reason. Petrucci, Lamb of God, Chevelle, Metallica? A bunch more I’m missing. It can be a pain to dial in but once you do it’s a beast.
I’m on my second IV and will not let this one slip away. If you need features the JP2C can be dialed in pretty close with some sounds, but you’re not going to get all the push pull pots or power amp wattage options the IV has. I had a first run JP2C and got rid of it because it kinda sucks at...
Tweed was one of the best modes on the V…. And I’ve never seen anyone post “Man I really wish the IIB was on a Mesa. “ so that’s really strange. I hope it sounds great but this isn’t getting my hopes up. Maybe I’m just a Mark IV Cult member ?? who can’t be happy unless it’s a 3 channel Mark IV...
The hold and release knobs let you really dial in the decay. Make it as natural or unnatural as you want. 4CM is the way to go. Used it with a IV, Marshall and MT15. It’s money. Just my opinion. I played an Axe 2 for almost 7 years so I missed having a rig that quiet. This is worth the asking price.
I love the headroom of 100 watt amps. I’m torn though, would a 50 watt stealth be plenty vs the 100? Or will I always keep thinking I should’ve grabbed the 100 to begin with. Heck I love playing the Revv in 10 watt mode too so who the heck knows. It’d be nice to run into a stealth in a guitar...
I bought one a few months back. My favorite pedal companies are Meris and Chase Bliss so I couldn’t hold back the gas. Love it, for me it lived up to the hype. I was on the fence for awhile because of the price and now that I’m past the honeymoon stage I’m glad I bit the bullet. Let us know what...
