1 VH4 mono into 2-cabs

If I run 1 VH4 mono head into 2 4x12 cabs does that mean I have 50 watts going into one cab and 50 watts going into the other?
If so does that mean I am actually pushing the tubes a bit more to make up for volume in place of running the VH4 into one cab?

Reason why I ask is, when I play at home my volumes sometimes need to be at lower volumes and I thought if I split the tube load into 2 separate cabs it would allow me to get the power tubes going a bit hotter than if I ran into one cab making the tone more dynamic/more tube push.

If I don't make sense then I am sorry

I'm no scientist but it seems to me: more speakers = more air moving = more volume.

I would think regardless of wattage distribution the same volume setting would be louder with 2 cabs. If you have another cab laying around give it a try though.

I have no idea at what master settings you are running AT HOME but I honestly doubt you will get the power tubes so much as yawning... in the range where you would get poweramp clipping, well let's just say it should be tearing holes in your walls by then! ;)
And a lot of tone and feeling you might be lacking at lower volumes could just be the cab not really fully swinging. So maybe just make up for it by adjusting the EQ? But in my own experience I find my vh4 to sound good even at bedroom levels.... like most modern amps, they get the bigger part of the tone from the preamp.

I bet you'd get better results from using a less efficient speaker.
I've found that the tone I like comes more from the speaker movement rather than pushing power tubes harder.

Let me see if I can explain a bit better...when running at lower volumes the amps gain is more compressed than when its at higher volumes.
Yes I agree the VH4 sounds mint no matter what volume level its at but it does open up more when volume is pushed at a higher level.

I think what I have found is kinda like (rocknrolla) has mentioned...
Running 4x12 cabs vs. 2x12 cabs will call for more volume to get those speakers moving.

Anyway, I messed around since I started this topic, I ran the VH4 with 2-4x12 cabs vs. 1-4x12 VH4 and 1-4x12 Herbert and I like option 2 more still.

Thanks guys,
Jon
