I buy new , but playing left handed has a lot to do with that , not many leftys used .

Nearly a 50/50 split for me. Of the 9 guitars that I currently have, I bought 5 new and 4 used. I like shiny new things..and old beat up things. If it's cool, it's cool.

I will buy used if the deal and situation is right or new if the deal and situation is right. I don't care really if it is new or used as I only buy high end and excellent to mint condition anyway. I guess my point is if I want a certain item I find the item and price/new or used is secondary in a way.

Yep. Bought 4 new Historic RI LPs this year... and a Suhr Classic. All new.

Not opposed to buying used... but all the stars have to align. Price, specs, seller, et al. I'm picky... and I need to like the guitar more so than just the price. Buying, selling, trading used gear is not like it was 10 or even 5 years ago.

Exactly. And these days, it's hard to get those stars to align! I tend to always buy new, and never pay full price, (if you do your homework, and buy right). That, and being able to exchange or return a clunker is a plus. You just don't know who's turd your inheriting, buying used. Amps, not so bad, guitars, REAL picky.

Face to face, non-issue. Used all day!

I only have two guitars, but I bought them new.

The amplifiers and cabs on the other hand are secondhand.

with the current online shops offering "no question asked" returns I haven't bought a used guitar in ages.
It would feel too much like a gamble... with a new guitar bought online I can spend weeks with it and discover every single potential problem before making it a keeper.

Last new guitar and amp I bought was way back in the early, mid 80s. A kramer pacer something and in 90 or 91 ? a first issue dual rec chrome chassis etc...Since then always used
