Damn, time flies. RIP Jeff, even though I don’t care for slayer at all.

The breakdown middle section of that song is almost impossibly evil...Still gives me chills.
That single riff, including gtr 2's harmony part, contains 11 of the 12 possible tones from the chromatic scale. Sheer brilliance. In fact, a little too brilliant for Kerry:

10 years...damn....I think Randy Bachman died yesterday and Gordon Lightfoot today....

My wife took a video of me playing this lick while my daughter was playing around with a shred neck practice guitar. It’s so funny as it’s metal and she’s like 3 bopping along to it. ?

i got to stand behind him a few times, it was rad

Just seeing this and erroeously started another thread on the same subject so I'll just add my thoughts in this one. It's hard to believe ten years have passed, I remember getting the news like yesterday...Jeff will always be one of my favorite riff and songwriters, just so many classic riffs and songs that get stuck in my head all of these years later.

Here are my two favorite full sets on YT - the 6 Ritz show and the Night Of The Flying Seat Cushions, also in NYC at the old Felt Forum

They were absolutely untouchable back then. Slayer live was a mind blowing experience.

Love the size of Lombardo’s tom’s. Today, his 2nd rack tom would be a guy’s floor tom, in his super metal, 4 piece kit.

Most definitely. The first time I saw them was on the South Of Heaven tour at a club and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen - Motorhead and Overkill opened so the entire show was awesome but Slayer was just on another level. Caught them on the Clash Of The Titans and it was a great show but definitely way more intense in a smaller venue.

This is the show - it was at Club NRG, not the Axiom as listed - wish the quality was better but still cool to see after all of these years:
