Good morning gents!

Well I've had a chance to gig the 101b several times now and I'm thoroughly pleased. Channel 2 is just the absolute tits. Channel 3 has potential but it feels like the shared EQ really limits it because I want to cut the mids down a hair compared to Channel 2. So I'm thinking about maybe an EQ in the loop? I've seen lots of guys try this. Is the MXR 6 band the default starting point? Any others that should be considered?

I could always rely on my old 6 band mxr. Don't use it these days but it's one of those things I'll never sell too.

I used to just stay on the blue channel and either engage the boost or step on a pedal. Channel 3 wasn’t bad, but I felt the same way as the OP and preferred to just boost the Blue.

Oh and if you go the MXR EQ route, I recommend the 10-band for the level control.

Have your red channel modded to pre-2004 spec. It kills the current configuration, which is compressed and looses clarity and mid range. The pre-2004 spec red channel is more like a half gain stage added to the Blue channel and maintains all the things you love about that channel.

I've said this since I've owned one.

An Ecstasy without the Green Channel, or the Green and the Blue share an EQ. I personally would rather just have the Helios 70's/PLEX and the RED channel with separate EQ, Pre-EQ, and Presence controls. Like a more vintage sounding Twin-Jet if that makes any sense. I would end up missing that Blue Channel in full gain though. Needless to say I feel where you are coming from.
